Agree with that. Picadores are an odd bird and are nothing like the PC or MC or any of the PL ERs. I contend there's no way anyone could peg it as a PL if they didn't know. It might be the regular production cigar most unlike its marca's DNA.

I hope the Galanes gets there but if it doesn't I think there's still a huge space for a 50+ RG PL that has the core of the PC and MC. If they can make the MC as flavorful as it is with a 33 RG imagine what they can do with three times the leaf.

This read like a cold war spy writing in some sort of code.  😂

I suggest getting one of these.

It is really quite awful ....almost to the point of no purchase list .....blend is amazing but it’s 50-50 on quality ...have the cigars are so overpacked they’re unsmokeable....I’ve purchased 6 boxes ....very disappointed

Sorry to hear that. Had you had good luck with prior boxes before going 6 deep? Seems like the first batches were a bit better received and got messy a few months after. Like you mention, I'm hearing some very negative things about the SdP on a regular basis these days.

My only positive experience is with the blend itself ...I can tell the flavor is there .....otherwise construction and quality have been 50-50....just the 6 boxes and a few singles from friends before that

To be clear...you are discussing the Punch Short de Punch, not the Por Larranaga Galanes.

A few singles and you went 6 boxes deep? Wow. Well, at least they were only 10 boxes!

What kind of construction issues are you running into with them?

And what exactly does this question have to do the Por Larranaga Galanes? If it pertains to the Punch Short de Punch utilise the post message feature of our forum or alternatively, open up a new thread on Punch Short de Punch construction inconsistencies.

I understand it's a digression of sorts, but both releases share quite a bit in common. I don't think it's totally inappropriate to compare and contrast some aspects of them.

Definitely, it's not inappropriate to compare and contrast aspects of these releases as yes, they (the Punch Short de Punch and Por Larranaga Galanes) do have similarities.

I'd be interested myself, when the time comes, to learn if the inconsistencies mentioned in this thread regarding the Punch Short de Punch end up pertaining to the Por Larranaga Galanes. I guess we'll see.

Me, too. I'm sitting on a 10 count box of PSdP, and am awaiting a box of Galanes from our host. Hoping the issues being mentioned here don't manifest in my examples...

one of the sticks I had had a very distinct popcorn flavour. not the upmarket ones, rather run of the mill type where the caramel coating didn't get to that corn. that is to say, bit of plain popcorn, a tinge of caramel, artificial sweetness.

it's not a good flavour if it's coming from a popcorn but it's pretty good (to me) coming from a cigar

Huh. I really didn't get any of that. There weren't a lot of specific flavors I could suss out. I was just very impressed with the depth and really nice earthiness which shocked me. Straight tobacco as well. As far as DNA, if I had to guess I might have said Upmann or even Partagas, not PL at all. I didn't get any sweetness out of it at all.

haha it was from one stick out of maybe 3-4 I've smoked, and considering the track record of CCs, don't know if I would read a lot into it

I had one today and it was fantastic! Agree with the PL caramel call and also underlying tobacco flavour. Only one sample but I think they’ll be fantastic in 3 years.

Just had mine yesterday. Terrific cigar considering the age (mine is April 2021). Hint of sweetness and shortbread just on the first third. At the last third, I found the cigar was quite hot, but still smoked it through the nub. Overall great potential!!
