Popular Post Bijan
My last cigar from the Christmas sampler. About 15% over official weight. A good weight for a large RG cigar. After having a tiny bit of tunneling on some recent cigars, not real tunneling but just having a bit of trouble keeping the wrapper lit, I dry boxed this for a couple of hours in the room at low 40s humidity and then stored it for several hours in my cold storage room at 60%. I think this did help, but I'll try it with the next few cigars to make sure. Weather was 2C/36F and about 89% humidity. Aroma and predraw of very light barnyard. First third: Opens with light coffee and butter. Very consistent throughout the whole third. Butter becomes cream by the end of the third. Medium or just a hair under. Second third: Cigar goes to medium. A bit more coffee. Some floral aroma in the middle and some sweet cinnamon towards the end. Then a bit stronger coffee. Final third: A bit over medium now. Still coffee. Then tea with cardamom. Need a couple of small touch ups. 90 minutes truly to the nub. I'd rate this 4/5. My ranking for the sampler cigars based on the single cigar in the sampler and based on my perception at the time of each review is: Supremos Maduro No 1 Siglo VI BBF CoRo Senadores Monte 2 Esmeralda (flavour muted) Lusitania (low smoke output) Propios (don't know if I have a solid reason to justify putting this cigar this low) QD 54 (went bitter) RyJ Churchill (unsmokeable as you saw today) In retrospect I'd rate the Propios higher and perhaps the Esmeralda equal or just above the Monte 2. So in hindsight: 1. Supremos 4.5 link to review 2. Maduro No 1 4 link to review 3. Siglo VI 4 4. BBF 4 link to review 5. CoRo 4 link to review 6. Senadores 3.5 link to review 7. Propios 3.5 link to review 8. Esmeralda 3.5 link to review 9. Monte 2 3.5 link to review 10. Lusitania 3 link to review 11. QD 54 2 link to review 12. chuckpnoy
Well done sir. Great reviews thank you. Interesting to see the tried and true - M2, Lusi and RyJ on the bottom. But I guess some sticks have to be there, so compared to the the rest of the sampler it makes sense. Your rankings, for me, tells me to stock up on some BBFs?

I think the M2 and Lusi could definitely have scored better given better examples. Probably the RyJ Churchills too, but maybe not without more age. I had a couple of random singles that were probably a few years old earlier this year and they were better than the relatively young ones I have had since.
Rhinoww
Thanks for the reviews and the listings. A comprehensive approach for sure. Very helpful to consolidate your thoughts and rankings w the last stick. With the ever increasing prices it is helpful to hear roughly contemporaneous thoughts from the same reviewer, and ranked no less. Another data point in the matrix that helps me figure out where my ? will be heading next for cigars.
