Montecristo Supremos 12DCRC

Cigar is well over official weight.

12mm punch and draw is tight. Three hits of perfecdraw and draw is good but snug.

Prelight aroma and draw of dried figs.

First third: Lights up with dried fruit but bitter. First thing I think of is raisins, but maybe dates and prunes. Some molasses. Sweet and bitter at the same time. Retrohale is cinnamon and baking spices but not sweet.

Second third: Still sweet and bitter. Retrohale is no longer sharp. Goes to something like marzipan but again bitter marzipan. Ash didn't want to drop until after I took off the EL band and then just fell on my lap shortly after.

Final third: Hits the dried fig of the prelight still the tiniest bit bitter. Becomes cinnamon. But not spicy cinnamon on retrohale but sweet cinnamon on the draw. Towards the end I get citrus peel flavour.

80 minute smoke time not quite to a nub.

Temperature outside started at 1C/34F ended at 0C/32F. Humidity was 80 to 90%. Burn wasn't too good and needed touch ups.

I'd rate this between 4/5 and 4.5/5. Best cigar of the Christmas sampler yet.

Didn't get chocolate or coffee. Got similar flavours in the second third but both sweeter and more bitter at the same time than either. Chocolate is either more sweet or more bitter. And coffee is never as sweet as the flavour I got. Closest it came was a brief period of coffee and chocolate wafer flavour.

Edit: Note on my five point scale: 5/5 is the outstanding cigar we chase after. 4/5 is a good cigar smoking well. 3/5 is a good cigar smoking somewhat poorly. 2/5 is a forgettable cigar smoking well (Fonsecas for me) or a good cigar smoking quite poorly. 1/5 is a forgettable cigar smoking poorly or a very bland cigar (my last Quintero). 0/5 is an unsmokable cigar that I probably didn't finish.

Nice review. I had one from the Christmas sampler the other night and was very impressed. Flavors reminded me of a really good Monte 2, but even richer.

Never had one but I would imagine this one to be very similar to the Dantes EL from 2016(i think) which was very good...

I might hurt some feeling and I'm sorry. For me it's my least favorite 2019LE. Maybe like the Dantes it needs time. I don't get all the hype on it. Smoked 3 already and found them rather blend and lacking complexity for such a premium to pay. I Ve one more single that must impress me. Otherwise my full boxes will end up on auction at some point.

I just love them... Difficult to to find nowadays but somehow managed to get three boxes for half decent prices over the past few months. Two boxes going to sleep for a very long time
