CUBA COVID-19 ENTRY REQUIREMENTS TRAVELERS NEED TO KNOW

 

Cuba is a hugely popular tourist destination famous for its pristine beaches, stunning architecture, vibrant culture and streets lined with classic American cars. 

 

The Cuban tourism industry was completely shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic back in March but has since reopened its borders to international tourists.

Here all the latest COVID-19 entry requirements for Cuba and everything travelers need to know before booking their trip. 

 

 

Countries Permitted To Visit Cuba

Travelers from all countries are permitted to visit Cuba under regular visa requirements. 

Havana has officially reopened for tourists starting on November 15th, 2020. elpin

Travel Authorization To Visit Cuba

There are no online forms to fill out before traveling to Cuba. However, all travelers will be required to complete a health declaration before arriving in Cuba. This may be handed out by the airlines but doesn't hurt to have it ahead of time.

 

 

 

COVID-19 Testing Entry Requirements 

Tourists arriving into Cuba will be tested for COVID-19 at the airport. After the test is taken, the traveler will quarantine at their hotel for a maximum for 24 hours for test results. If the test is negative, the traveler can enjoy their vacation.

A fee/health tax may apply. Travel Off Path is waiting confirmation from authorities. 

Quarantine Entry Requirements 

There no no quarantines for travelers who test negative when arriving in Cuba. 

 

 

COVID-19 Travel Insurance Entry Requirements 

All incoming travelers should have travel insurance the covers COVID-19 for the duration of their trip to Cuba.

Note: Travelers visiting Varadero are required to have COVID-19 insurance and must bring proof of their hotel reservation.

COVID-19 Health Requirements While in Cuba

All visitors must follow COVID-19 health requirements while in Cuba:

• Wearing a mask is required by law at all times in public and can be met with harsh penalties for offenders. 
• Social distancing is also mandatory

 

COVID-19 Vaccine Entry Requirements 

A vaccine for COVID-19 is not yet available to the public. Cuba has not announced any mandates on a proof of vaccine record (POVR) for entry.  

 

Visa Entry Requirements For Cuba During COVID-19

All travelers arriving in Cuba from the United States, Canada and the UK will need a Cuba Tourist Card.

Depending on where you are coming from the process is different. 

If you’re traveling from Canada, all you have to do to get your green Cuban Tourist Card is book your flight. The airline will provide the card to you on the flight. There is no extra fee.

Some countries can order them online before traveling and most U.S. Airlines have them for sale.

Pink Card: U.S. Airport

Green Card: Non U.S. Airport

 

 

Cuba Covid-19 Entry Requirements:

1. Get the Cuba Tourist Card 
2. Get tested upon arrival 
3. Wait 24 hours in hotel quarantines
4. Follow all health protocols while in Cuba

Quarantine is for the hotel property, they may even give you a map of its boundaries. However Directorio Cubano says the quarantine was 5 days. They can keep you for up to 14 days if they think you have COVID in some crummy hospital. For US travelers, insurance is included in your ticket. Casa particulares will be off the list until hotels start filling up, plus they don't want you getting the owner sick. In the hotel you will have plenty of shadows. They had said a few weeks ago the test would be 50 CUC but now they are mum about the pricing schedule. John

Several sites are stating that you must take the test, quarantine 5 days. If test results are negative a second test must be taken after the 5 days. It is not clear if you have to quarantine an additional 5 days and if you have to pay for both tests. According to 14ymedio there are about 15 Russians in Cayo Coco that are being detained in a bunker style prison/hospital. No internet access, no running water. Well, it does drip a little. When they complained about getting some food, they brought them something fairly undesireable. I remember something about a 10 foot pole in situations like this. John

Correct - 5 days quarantine as far as I am informed.

Here's a video of those Russians at Cayo Coco isolation center - from 3:08 you can see their conditions, rooms, water supply ???? LOL,  and food ( quite nice from a Cuban point of view ) from 8:18 the food a Cuban would get in an isolation center and from 13:40 taking Covid tests in a bathroom ...

I wonder if the Cuban's would actually put out the good cigars in the LCDH's, now that tourism is so minimal. 

Imagine going through all this crap, going into a few LDCH's, and still seeing no stock. (especially knowing it's there, just your not "cool" enough to get offered it). 

But I think it may be the opposite. The average tourist may actually see some Behike, Espie, Winny, Lancero, etc....

Fact is that it was an official 150 large "tour operator" group there to "praise and sing hallelujah" to the Cuban safe holidays marketing ( received by Prime Minister Marrero who was former Tourist minister ) and some 75 regular tourists ...

"Havana’s international airport opens to commercial flights today. This is what the arrivals hall looked like when I arrived on a humanitarian flight on Thursday, a long queue to hand in a form with your details, have your temperature screened and then a PCR test done in a booth just before security.
Then, for residents, quarantine at home until you get a second PCR test done on day 5, and should that prove negative, are free to go.
Cuba chose not to require tests before arrival unlike other Caribbean nations, in its bid to boost tourism to alleviate a severe cash crunch."

Everyone has sales quotas. Despite the fact that a lot of "Local" buyers are picking up stuff for foreigners who send them money, I would think the LCDH would be *very* motivated to move product.
