Olivia Serie V Melanio Robusto (47+RW)

Recommended Posts

I had 80+ Melania Robusto's in the humi and am now down to about 45 left - obviously, I agree with the guys above -- These are good smokes.  Had 108 of the Lancero's and now down to about 80 of them left.  Every time I go to the humi looking for a NC it is a very hard choice between the two ... Lately, I've been leaning towards the Lancero's as the better smoke of the two!

I tried one for the first time the other day, I went for the Melanio Robusto too. I found it very creamy and pleasant flavor wise, good cigar overall with a fairly flawless construction (I am not a lover of the box press thing either). However, and it may very well be ia highly preconceived and biased view; I found it substantially flat smoking experience wise. I am going to make sure I smoke a couple more to confirm I know how much I liked it as I liked it enough. Have few friends that really are advocates of it.
Any other NCs folks would recommend to try for a once a week “get out of my comfort zone” smoke? ?

I recently picked up a 10 count box each of the natural and maduro for $52 apiece shipped.  I like the natural a little better, but go through a box of both every year.  The maduro needs more time to rest imo.  I do love the V lancero and hope to pick another box when online dealers run specials around the holidays.

Hi all again, just keeping the tabs with this discussion. Have been making a conscious effort in allocating time for a NC every now and then. So far after the Serie V Melanio Robusto, I went with the Davidoff Special R, my father no 1, and Fuente Reserva Don Carlos robusto. This last one was the most remarkable one I have to say by a somewhat important margin. While construction is impecable across all, the depth, aromas and flavor of the latter i found the most interesting. Will keep adding some of the above recommendations.

The regular V with a couple years on it loses some aggressive pepper and really shines with chocolate and leather. The Melanios I greatly prefer younger. I had some older ones that are good, but they do seem a little flat. The Master Blend is a surprisingly nice option too. The other Oliva lines don't do much for me though. But Melanio and Serie V? Really great sticks.

@djrey have you had the Serie V Lancero?

It has a strange menthol-like flavor, but not in a bad way. Combined with the serie v dark chocolate flavor and I'd say it's like an 'after 8'. I enjoy them, but not as much as the churchill extra or melanios.
