Baccy Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 https://www.rt.com/news/501063-victoria-debates-precrime-police-covid/ ? We certainly have our problems over here but this seems super draconian, even though we're constantly hearing about the extreme lockdown measures in Australia and how they keep snatching more and more freedoms from you guys over there. I just want to know are the people rejecting these measures, going along to get along, or are they super duper grateful that the nanny state is protecting their safety?
Habana Mike Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 "wrongthink"? Quite Orwellian. Doubt this stops in Victoria and most likely will spread. We already have indefinite detention without charge or trial for very vague reasons that can be applied to anybody, including US citizens. NDAA act of 2014. Frightening..... 1
El Presidente Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 You get the government you deserve. Don't like it, vote them out. * and I hope they do! However, I won't stress over politicians and party politics 1 1
Fuzz Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 COVID = Citizens Of Victoria Ignoring Directions
LordAnubis Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 I feel I am uniquely positioned to answer this question. The people of this fine state of Victoria are pretty stupid I gotta say. I mean we’re in lockdown here and I’ve not seen any reduction of people out and about. People here just don’t seem to get it. Not sure what it’s like in the rest of Australia. All these complaints about curfews. What the hell were people doing before anyway!? Everything was shutdown. Since this whole thing started in March, my wife and I have not changed a single thing. Well maybe we wear masks now cos it’s mandatory. But still we minimise going out etc. and this current curfew is not any different to what we have already been doing for the past few months. I wonder if this law passes can we preemptively dispose of politicians? 1 1
Baccy Posted September 20, 2020 Author Posted September 20, 2020 Preemptively disposing of useless politicians... I like the sound of that!

Meanwhile, people we know who’ve never left Texas more than 5 times in their life (often with us in tow) are now booking cruises and traveling like they were Anthony Bourdain.... I often wonder if they’ll muster the breath to curdle us with a gallant cry of “FREEEEEDDOMMMMMMMM!!!!“ through their intubation apparatus in the ICU.
