El Presidente Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 Does Cuba make a bad Petit Robusto? Ok, I don't smoke a lot of Vegueros Entretiempos but I do have a fair crack at the rest. Petit Robusto sort of varies in size but generally 50 -52 gauge and 100-120 mm. It is not my favourite vitola by a long way. However, as with cigars over 54 gauge, I can appreciate the art/nouse of packing so much flavour into the package. So what does it take to be a good Petit Robusto? Well the brief is fairly simple.....be good from the first puff ....be true to the flavours of the Marque....finish as strongly as you start. So how do they fair in your eyes? Have a crack at the poll and pick your most enjoyable three 2
NSXCIGAR Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 The only one I've never had success with is the RyJ PC. Obviously the Monte PE is a classic and maybe the benchmark. The CoMS is always great. The rest are almost always reliably excellent.
westg Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 Toughest one yet for me . Behike52 Petit Edmundo Magicos
nubase Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 Only reason not voting for some of these is I have yet to try them, but in response to the Pres I have to say that I really appreciate the Petit Robusto vitola. I tend to stay away from the larger ring gauges and really enjoy a nice Petit Corona so when I have a Petit Robusto I feel like I'm getting a little more smoke production, draw, and the essence of the marque.
GolfT3 Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 I enjoy the format. Perfect size for walking the dog, a quick morning coffee, etc. The increased ring gauge gives you a fair amount of flavor with less risk of overheating during a fast smoke.

tigger Posted September 9, 2020 Posted September 9, 2020 I may get around to trying some of these some day, but as yet haven't The disappearance of sizes I love has made me disinclined to reward HSA for putting out sizes I have little interest in. 1
vhampl03 Posted September 9, 2020 Posted September 9, 2020 I love the Medio Siglo....and no need to wait 3-5 years like with a CoRo!

Piligrim Posted September 9, 2020 Posted September 9, 2020 I vote for Medio Siglo and Monte PE. if it was available anywhere I'd like to choose BHK52, but since it's not possible my choice would be PSD#5
nKostyan Posted September 9, 2020 Posted September 9, 2020 I don't see BHK52 as Petit Edmundo, this format is much more convenient. Otherwise, for me, smoking of Petit Robustos and it derivatives are often a torment. Very quickly it turns into a short nub, the smoke is hot and you need to control the puff, it is difficult to relax in such conditions. The only my variant - is a very tight rolled petit Robustos. It burns slowly and the smoke does not overheat, but this is a cigar for a fan of "sports puffs". I'm one of them. 1
SmokyFontaine Posted September 9, 2020 Posted September 9, 2020 I think the HdM's are incredible, especially young. One of my favorites. 1
FatPete Posted September 14, 2020 Posted September 14, 2020 Not a fan of the format, however I do really like the Hoyo, and am resting a box of Media Luna to try as I've heard such good things about it.
Pag Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 I am a simple guy. These fit my personal bill. This is my vote. Sent from my Pixel 3a using Tapatalk 1
