I’m thinking of picking up some tins of Upmann Half Corona and Monte Media Corona.  For those with these tins, do you keep your cigars in the tin for long-term storage? Or remove them and store loose?

just wondering if there’s any impact on flavor profile if stored in the tins long-term...

My preference (fwiw) is always to leave the smokes in their original packaging.   The main risk in long term storage is accidental damage of the cigars as you paw through your stash over the years.   (I have learned this lesson the hard way.)

I've always wondered how the foam piece in the HUHC tins will age over time... i'd take that out but leave the cigars in the tin.

Good idea, didn’t even think about that.

There is foam in the HUHC tin? I've never seen that. All mine have a thin cedar sheet and a piece of glassine paper.

Not seen any recently admittedly but the ones i have seen had this in them. Kind of a high density foam piece.image.png.338a23c745a40d30af1d40e9cb0bebc9.png

That's the first time I've seen that, Mus. Might check my tins when I get home.

Where did you buy your fakes from??

Bought them off some dude online. Seemed legit, but he has some wacky ideas; putting a cigar in a fridge will loosen a tight draw, the best drink to pair with a cigar is orange juice, all plume is mold, etc. :lookaround:

That guy has a LOT of suspect friends, too. Birds of a feather, I suppose...

Maybe the foam piece is where all the plume is?

Should I take the mayonnaise out of the jar before I put my cigars in for long term storage? Or leave it in? Asking for a friend.

Mayo always comes out, Vegemite stays in is the basic rule. Do your research properly next time.

Damn.

Anyone have any advice on drying cigars that have been submerged in mayonnaise? Cat litter? Asking for a friend.
