Precious metals

Recommended Posts

Anyone into precious metals investing? Gold is hitting records highs and inching closer and closer to the $2k mark every day. I have a few gold coins and piles of silver I just wish I had been ballsy enough to go all in back when gold was under $1k/oz... I would be sitting pretty right about now? Oh well, you live and you learn!

I moved about 40% of my portfolio into metals about a month ago, it has worked out well.

Which products or services do you recommend?  I read some of them are high commissions on the buy and sell.

The last time gold was below $1k/oz was like 2010, wasn't it? I mean it was $270/oz when I was in high school. Wish I skipped college and dumped all my money in gold then.

Actually you're right. It didn't dip below 1k but back in late 2015- early 16 the spot price was very close to 1k, I think it bottomed out at around $1050/oz... I just remember thinking that gold would never rebound again. Boy was I wrong!

Strictly ETFs. Ones like GLD, AGQ, and GDX.

The gold/silver ratio is still out of whack. I think silver is a better option than chasing gold, at the moment.

I love using a metal detector, good times...

Well best of luck to you in that metal detector search: if you find gold, silver, etc. let the rest of us know so we can have renewed inspiration. Every single metal detector user we've ever seen has found only lug nuts, rusty nails, tin can lids, etc. <_<

I made a good return on GLD in the early 2000's.  I think I sold it around 2003?  Was thinking of that stock again, but will look at the others mentioned!  Thanks.

You just have to be really careful and use stops with the triple leveraged funds like AGQ.
