throberto Posted May 29, 2020 Posted May 29, 2020 My cigars usually burn beautifully with no relights or touch ups necessary, until the final third, when it seems impossible to keep the thing lit for more than a few puffs. I also find a lot of wrappers splitting at that point. I wondered if the frequent relights could be causing the wrapper to split, not sure why the relights are necessary though. Anybody else experience frequent burn issues in the final third? Sent from my GM1903 using Tapatalk
Popular Post La_Tigre Posted May 29, 2020 Popular Post Posted May 29, 2020 Do you enjoy your cigars as much as this guy???? When we get sloppy, the end gets humid, the interior swells, the drier wrapper cracks, the cigar turns bitter and has burn issues. I try to keep my better half from slobbering on our cigar. ? 2 3
throberto Posted May 29, 2020 Author Posted May 29, 2020 Not quite that much! You could be right, I'll look out for that next time.Cheers Sent from my GM1903 using Tapatalk
fitzy Posted May 29, 2020 Posted May 29, 2020 If you’re not slobbering then what humidity are you keeping them at? swelling is from too much moisture(saliva or other kinds lol).
throberto Posted May 29, 2020 Author Posted May 29, 2020 They're kept at 62%, maybe I should do some drybox experimentation and see if that helps. Thanks Sent from my GM1903 using Tapatalk 1
dshot Posted May 29, 2020 Posted May 29, 2020 Is one marca or a whole bunch of them? I'd say what @throberto suggested dry box to even out the RH in the cigars and see. Maybe it's placement in the humidor and the head of cigars are getting more RH.
dominattorney Posted May 29, 2020 Posted May 29, 2020 Happens to me with every hoyo epi especial and no 1 and most RASS. Not with others.
throberto Posted May 29, 2020 Author Posted May 29, 2020 Seems to be every marca and vitola , sounds like one way or another it's a moisture issue. I don't think it's placement in the humidor as they all face different directions..
Sir Diggamus Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 The humidity where you are smoking also has an impact on the burn of a cigar. I I spent years in FL and if I was smoking at a particularly humid part of the day the issue you are experiencing can be common. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hammer Smokin' Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 sounds more like the humidity where you're smoking over the humidity of your humidor.

As these guys mentioned its more likely the humidity of where you are smoking as I find during the summer its super humid and so by the final third the cigar changes drastically. One thing to try if the flavour is really not how you like it, try purging the cigar, blowing back out a few times and see if that improves the flavour.
