Ferraris. I may have a new obsession....

I believe there are a few things in life that drive a certain passion in people. Cars, cigars, art, wine, travel, music, cuisine, etc. We'll avoid politics and religion. Also sex.

For me, while aside from my career I also am an avid cigar guy, retired professional chef and semi-professional musician, I've also always been a bit of a car guy as well: 64.5 289 V8 Mustang, 73 Firebird. 79 Camaro Z28, 91 Mitsubishi 3000GT, 08 Infiniti G37S, 18 Alfa Romeo Ti Sport. 

Today I found myself at a Ferrari race event

Invited by a friend that drives a 2013 black 458 Italia, a pretty amazing car, one of the last naturally aspirated models made. All turbos now which really dampens the exhaust notes.

He picked me up early Saturday morning and we met as a group at the local Ferrari dealership for coffee and brekkie sandwiches then head out to the racecourse. 42 mile ride and a fun one. Luckily the cops seemed to be mostly busy pulling pickup trucks over. It is Georgia....

Good day with lots of fresh air, engine noise and the smell of burning and unburnt petrol. Amazing cars between the owners, dealers and racers.

I've always appreciated Italian cars, love our Alfa. Only been in a Ferrari twice before. Always loved them since a young age though.

Great day at the track. Tour the cars in the corral that came up with the group. Good bunch of guys and gals.

 

 

 

Grab a beer, smoke a Cohiba Short, watch some qualifying races. Get a little lunch 

Watch the first race of the day and then some members laps whilst smoking a Trini Reyes.

Then it's our turn.

2.4 mile road track with some breathtaking elevations, S curves and blind corners that the top drivers today completed laps in 1:23 

Went around a couple of times. Took us a little longer than that but what a blast!

Toured the paddocks.

That 328 GTS though ... my dream car since Magnum PI ?

We're just down the road from the Ferrari dealer here OTP north, and I see a decent amount of them when out.  Half of me says I'd love one, the other half says I could never justify dropping that amount of money on a car.

Although that dealer by us did have a 328 in the showroom ...

Gorgeous day mike! Peyton Manning likes to drive the park i smoke at during work in a red one. No idea what model. He always slows down as he drives by. One of these days my flagging him down woulnt scare him off and he'll stop for pic... Im sure of it. ?

Sweet! Those cars look gorgeous! Road Atlanta is very challenging, especially turn 11 to 12....definite pucker factor coming through the bridge and down the hill onto the straight. That wall looks LARGE at speed! Sounds like you an amazing experience.
