Popular Post RicoIsHere Posted December 19, 2019 Popular Post Posted December 19, 2019 Got my order of Indian Monsoon Malabar from Josuma. One of my favorite coffees, bar none! Together with a small stogie is good at any time. 7

Derboesekoenig Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 Damn! You received this 2 days after roast on the other end of the coast? I'm impressed. Sometimes I miss being back in the states just for this reason. Do you brew via espresso or..? 1
CampDelta369 Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 Agree on the MC#4 with coffee. Also MC#5, PLPC, PLMC, Partagas Shorts, El Principe, La Fuerza, QD50 and today the MC#1 was brilliant. Illy Italian Espresso grind at home BRCC MO Roast at office No machina currently, only single filtered pour over. It takes more time but... with the right CC, it’s magic for the day. 1

I brew 1 c pourover every day, maybe 2 c per day once or twice a week. Hard to beat...one day I'll invest in a proper espresso machine 2

Booyaa Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 A Monsoon Malabar is one coffee I've never been able to enjoy too much. Not sur ewhy not, tried lots of different ones but just never suited me.

Monsoon malabar is about as close to non-acidic as coffee gets, whereas a Nordic light roast can be acidic as hell—something like pH 4.5.

They will talk to you about their process, and their recommended brew method at length. They even sell it green. When I first started buying from them they told me it is ultra clean, and they remove most beans that don't pass muster. I'll upload their insert they include with their purchase, pretty detailed. My other coffee sources are Red Bird out of Montana and Willoughby's, out of Connecticut. They also sell green coffee, which I'm pondering... Green coffee costs half the price of the same roasted beans, and you can freeze it. Will the wife allow me to roast 8oz. every Sunday and have the house smell like a coffee shop though? If I buy the roaster from Willoughty's sister company (Roastmaster) I get 8lbs. green coffee free, so essentially I get the roaster free. Wife don't give a rats ass though...
RicoIsHere Posted December 20, 2019 Author Posted December 20, 2019 Searching for Finca La Perla coffe I came across this, at $1,000.00 lb!! https://dailycoffeenews.com/2019/07/18/elida-estate-gesha-earns-1029-per-pound-in-record-breaking-best-of-panama-auction/ https://www.roastmasters.com/elida-green-tip1029.html
BrightonCorgi Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 Anyone here use a Neapolitan coffee pot? A cross between a pour over and a Bialetti.

I have been roasting my own beans, which I get from Sweet Maria's in Oakland. Now I am spoiled, and no matter what beans I buy, NOTHING compares. Apparently the freshness of the coffee matters as much or more than what particular beans I have. Coffee that was roasted in my garage, 2 days to a week ago...everything from Kenya Nyeri AA to Sumatran Lintong to plain ol So. American Arabica...it's literally the best coffee in the world!! That is awesome, What roaster do you have? I was considering the Bhemor for the longest, and regret not buying it. Price has gone up 30% in last 18 months.

My husband is British and drinks tea so it's just me drinking the coffee. I don't usually roast more than enough for a week at a time. So three, maybe four batches in the popper, which take about 5 minutes each to go from green to dark and oily, and I'm set for the week. The popper cost me all of 5 bucks at a thrift store and takes me less than 30 minutes total to make a week's worth. ? I know my popper will burn out eventually, and Sweet Maria's sells the same type of poppers on their site for about $20. Eventually I will probably get one of those. A big expensive roaster is overkill for the small amount of coffee I roast every week. Dry popper? That's pretty cool...

How does the flavor change throughout the week, if at all?
