This weekend in honour of the Special One's (Jose Mourinho) return to the English Premier League we want reviews of that Special One cigar which announced itself as a star by delivering the goods from the get-go and has aged pretty darn well, too, always performing above average and/or occasionally knocking your socks off with results against the odds... It's not old faithful, it's got fireworks in its locker! :wink2:

Pick any cigar that fits this bill and review it to go into the draw for an El Pres Selected Box.

  1. Start a new thread in the Waterhole.
  2. Use this format: Partagas Lusitania JOM FEB 14  (JMRW)
  3. Add a photo or two
  4. A detailed review + score it in your own way.

To be drawn Wednesday local time!

Have a fantastic weekend

JMRW = Jose Mourinho Review Weekend!

P.S. If you don't know your football/EPL and the Mourinho backstory, and you feel inclined to do so, here's a few links to school you up:

Jose Mourinho rolling up at Chelsea in 2004...

2019 Jose, after having gone the journey and been down for a nap for a while, has he gotten better with age, can we expect the same results???

when i saw this, i assumed you meant a bad tempered, arrogant tosser of a cigar, one that does okay to start with but never ends well and always leave a bad taste in your mouth.

Everyone's palate is different, Ken.

Gunners could do worse. Like sticking with Emery, for instance. Shoring up their defence would be a good start. Mourinho could have been a godsend. And a reunion with David Luiz. What's not to like?

The problem for any manager is the cattle. I think we're about to see what Spurs' youth dept has in its locker.

Never. If that was really a concern I'd sign Big Sam up. "Edit - it IS a concern. Previous misphrasing makes it seem like I did not think it was a concern. But if the primary purpose of hiring the Special One was for the defence, I'd pass."

Arsenal needs to sign Poch up now.

It's really a question of whether Emery or Ole gets canned first.  Either club would be fools not to snatch Poch up.

agree. emery looking like he is not the saviour. also agree grabbing poch might be a top idea.

not shoring up the defence, actually getting a defence, would be a start. diabolical.

but everywhere the special one has been has ended in tears. sure, often some early success but it always comes undone.

agree re cattle but up to the manager to be getting the cattle. spot it, train it, improve it. and not be someone who drives players away from the club and scares others off. and emery has joined him in that category.

i thought all sp*rs had in its locker were kids they pinches from the gunners?

He always wins some trophies by his second season. Sp*rs never wins anything. Everyone made fun of Wenger's 9 year drought but they forget clubs like Sp*rs has been (and still will be) enduring a drought much longer than that.

Let's see if SO's mojo can outdo Sp*rs' incapacity.

Agreed. But Man U aside I think he's delivered a league title in every other club management stint. Correct? Not too shabby, without even mentioning all the other honours.

I think Spurs will see that new manager boost lift them up for a while, but ultimately it'll derail in the league. This year anyway. Europe might be a different matter.

Perfect cigar for this would be one that starts of glitzy, moves into a proper winning smoke in the second third and then unravels in the third until it becomes unsmokable and is tossed like a 2cent dawg.
