Hot Takes

1. RUN CMC

Heading into week 6, Christian Mccaffrey has a total of 866 yards from scrimmage. The New York Jets have 718.

CMC could be the most versatile weapon the league has ever seen. The Panthers copped a lot of flak for this pick initially but it looks like a masterstroke. 

 

2. In the trenches

[Lowder] Nick Bosa in the #49ers' win over the Browns, per @PFF: -9 total pressures -2 sacks -3 QB hits -4 QB hurries -2 total tackles -3 stops -1 forced fumble -Elite overall grade of 92.3 -Best pass-rush performance for a rookie since the creation of Pro Football Focus.

The 49ers defense has graded as a top unit in the league so far this season. Their continual investment in the DL appears to be paying off. 

 

3. Return of the RB

Early signs looking good for the 2017 RB class. More evidence to the fact that quality RB's can be found outside the first round. 

 

4. Chink in the armor 

[Burke] The Mahomes vs man/zone split is interesting. He's absolutely deadly vs zone, but merely above average vs man. ESPN's numbers have him at +.67 EPA/play vs zone and +.19 EPA/play vs man. +.08 EPA is our current mean for pass plays.

With the tape starting to pile up on Mahomes will teams begin to figure out ways to contain his explosive plays. 

 

5. Is the run back?

[Gosselin] There were nine 300-yard passers in the NFL last week. Their teams went 4-5. There were eight 100-yard rushers. Their teams went 7-1.
