I will be next week in Hamburg for a couple of nights for work, evenings are free so wondered if anyone can recommend anywhere to eat and drink or smoke a cigar?

Visited the the Hamburg lcdh a few years ago, service was ok but cigar selection was limited. A great many boxes in the humidor, all already sold somehow. Oh well...

I can only recommend Duske & Duske as a cigar store with long tradition and great personal service.

No idea about other cigars stores in Hamburg ...

As for lounges : The Old Commercial Room and the Kempinski Atlantic Bar are my faves.
You might get lucky and meet Udo Lindenberg there - great rock & roller and cigar smoker in-residence.

Love Hamburg! Used to work there for three years before going on my constant world travels.

I concur with Nino’s recommendations on cigar shopping but couldn’t tell you if indoor smoking is still allowed in Hamburg. But you shouldn’t have any issues smoking outside at Restaurants and Cafés.

Make sure to check out Reeperbahn at night, it’s the entertainment and red light district in St. Pauli. So many old school bars and tiny clubs, really good fun even if just for a few drinks and no ‘special’ service?

Speicherstadt and HafenCity have a few nice new restaurants, the MiniaturWunderland is one of the biggest model railway train set ups in the world.

If you have time to head out of town a little, go downriver to Blankenese. On the way you pass Hotel Louis C. Jacob, my former stomping ground. They’ve got a beautiful terrace overlooking the river below. A nice place for a cigar!

Enjoy your trip!

I spent a weekend there early this year. You can smoke in the bars around Reeperbahn. It’s pretty much a free for all around there. I researched cigar shops before hand and D&D was generally rated higher than the LCDH. I didn’t actually get to visit either in the end. I had pencilled in a morning to visit them but had to spend it looking for a friend who had gone MIA in the Reeperbahn the night before

A quick update, my hotel was next door to D&D. Good place with decent stock and nice people.  Ate at The Old Commercial Room but the cigar lounge was not open, interesting place and food OK so would go back. Thanks for the advice.
