Ramon Allones RR Estupendos Asia Pacific 2006 release – Colosia Amontillado - Oakridge Meunier Rose 2016

By Ken Gargett.

Is there a more popular cigar for Regional Releases than Ramon Allones? There are bucketloads of them. Why is that? Is it because the brand is not considered good enough for regular Limited Edition releases, so they make do with Regionals? And if so, does that mean that Havana ranks Regionals below Limited Editions? Who knows?

I'd go so far as to venture that no other brand is used as often for Regionals as RA, which I suspect few would have guessed when the program started. Of course, I could sit down and go through and count the split between brands and find out just which of them is most used, but we all know I am not going to do that. And these days, when the idea of fact-checking for articles has become a farce, why bother? It is now in print, so it must be true...

thanks but sadly unless one invents the next harry potter or game of thrones, it remains poorly paid malarkey.

Combine the two; Kids go to a magic school and brutally start to off each other in savage attempts to win the single graduating diploma at the end of the course

  The rest practically writes itself!

I think he just gave it to you.

By the way LE tend to be only global brands:

Cohiba
H. Upmann
Hoyo de Monterrey
José L. Piedra
Montecristo
Partagás
Romeo y Julieta

And RE are only non-global brands.

Surprised we haven't seen a Piedra LE though ;)

Yes. A great read. Couldn't agree more. Reds and cigars are not consistent pairing partners. Unless we're talking Port.  Whites compliment cigars far better.

I do love a good port with the right cigar, though.  Exquisite combo when it works.

I've had a box from '06 and still have quite a few from an '07 box... Flavor-wise, they've shown flashes - few and far between, but the poor construction and fragile wrappers haven't helped in making up for these shortcomings.

They're much better than the '06 Cohiba Piramide El, and closer to the 2005 - 2007 SLR DC in overall quality (yes, faint praise)

I'm not trying to be antagonistic - check out reviews of any of these cigars  here......

colt, it would never occur to me that you would ever try and be antagonistic - you manage perfectly without trying.

but more seriously, perhaps i've been lucky with my box. all any of us can do is look at the cigar in front of us. which makes all of this extremely subjective. we all know that all cigars are not created equal. i still sit in wonder at everybody raving about hoyo DCs. for me, never seen one that would not have made a better contribution to the planet as compost. and even if you have identical cigars, people have different preferences (thankfully) and different tasting abilities (i don't mean that as derogatory to anyone - well known that people have very different levels of tastebuds). toss in experience. it is a wonder we ever get close to a consensus.

when you said, "check out reviews of any of these cigars  here......", did you mean to include links or references, or are you leaving that work to each of us (and fat chance of that happening)?
