Popular Post Akela3rd Posted March 31, 2019 Popular Post Posted March 31, 2019 I got these a while back because, well, just because. They're funky looking and a bit different and in a cool little box and why not indeed? They're also meant to smoke well despite their alleged novelty value. I put up a three in the UK Box Pass last year (@ayepatz had them on the next pass I recall) but hadn't yet smoked one myself. So, playing Billy No-mates today I thought I'd try one though ideally they're pitched as a cigar to smoke with friends for entertainment value. The relight draw is the on light side with a slight sweetness of oranges prevalent. On lighting there's a tobacco rich, spicy hit that bodes well. Finding the right hold is interesting and it appears in weird places in eyeline due to the contorted shape by but it ain't rolling away anytime soon if put down. Medium+ in strength with charred bell pepper and a slight not unpleasant bitterness. Smooths out nicely in 2nd half to give touches of coffee. More D4 than Short or Lusi in profile as the sweetness of the prelight hasn't really translated.Ash falls easily due to the quite loose roll and despite it's length it's not as long a smoke as you'd expect - 35 mins or so. I get a flavour I can only describe as new carpet, which is a new one on me but there you go... The finish is dry but still full of coffee and earth and pepper.Overall, not outstanding but certainly intriguing. I think aging these will come naturally as I certainly have better cigars to smoke, but worth having around to put a little wonk into your life. Score? 6/10 however, the context of these is more than just the flavour. It's the weird kid in the corner of the cigar world. And they're the interesting ones... 99call Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 great review dude. The new carpet comment sent me into a bit of a body spasm (as bit like Robert Shaw dragging his fingernails down the black board in Jaws). Some weird childhood memory of crawling around chewing bits of polyester carpet ends, gives me a worryingly accurate idea of what you're talking about. 1 1

Yeah, wasn't sure about that one but just called it as it came to me. I remember once smoking with a friend and our wives tried a couple of drags. Him and me mentioned all the usual flavours but they both went off on memories of their grandmother's handbags and specific holiday destinations. Sent from my ActionMan walkie-talkie 2

They are all valid, but I have to say I can stand cigars reviews, that are like "tasted of cigars...was ok"..............all I think when I read them is Jesus! why bother?......please lord don't let these people put their raging passion, enthusiasm, and insight into the form of memoirs. You can imagine it now "met woman......was 'ok'.....decided to marry.....she has full head of hair, and own teeth" 2
Luca Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 Enjoyable review to read @Akela3rd! I love the Culebras. The capsicum flavour (bell pepper) that you describe is spot on. I find these to be powerhouses good flavour that I believe will age for 5 - 10 years nicely 1
aphexafx Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 I love them too and I greedily keep them all for myself. Friends be damned! Little petit lanceros all coiled up and evil. They are spicy little flavor bombs. Kudos for reviewing the odd guy, and good luck! Every time I smoke the Culebras I think of: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6tem6z 1

Someday, when I get old and retire, I'm going to smoke them constantly. They're marketed as something to share with friends ?, but having seen that episode when I was little, they are pure evil in my mind ? and I love them all the more for it. Just an awesome cigar lol,
