Don't expect bargains. I was still outbid on this box....

I do not see how this could affect 24:24 prices, as those are for current stock. If people are trying to sell current vintage stock on FOH Auctions, they won't be getting much of a margin, if at all. You would be better off going into the Trading Room and seeing if you can trade off current stock for something you want. If anything at all, it might ease off demand for 24:24 as people put their coin on auction stock.
I second this

Happy to pay double for an 8 year aged cab of PLPC .  That would be about $11 a stick. To me it is worth it. That's the same price as a Padron Anniversary maduro Principe. Excellent cigar but no match for aged PLPC.  Horses for courses!

i agree with you that buying vintage can be hit and miss. However  but you rarely miss on an 8 year old cab of PLPC/Dieux/Serie A/ERDMCX etc if you know how they have been stored.

There are plenty of cigars however that I would have no interest in.

I was feeling like an annoying little child for resurrecting this thread. But, I’m now glad that I did. It was worth it just for the perspectives on quality aged stock. You’ve mentioned the des Dieux now twice. I haven’t seen them come up for sale. Are they in current production? Or being a thin vitola, are they just out of vogue at the moment as leaf is committed to Dukes and Robusto Extras?

Oh, no worries, man.  I resurrected the Sir Winnie thread...that thing was almost 6 years in the grave.

Yes you did. And I loved seeing that thread pop up. SW discussion never gets old.

Des Dieux are terrible.  Just forget about them.  You don’t want any of those. Putrid. ???

My thought is, if people pay extreme multiples on aged stock (for releases still available), the demand will show the existing cost for current cigars could be increased.

I believe there is a small subset of individuals that will artificially increase the cost of cigars...because they have the means to be able to.

those sales will be compared with new stock and will drive up the price as a result.

For some cigars, 24:24 stock sells out in seconds, yet the price has not skyrocketed due to this demand. Now mind you, you can buy those cigars from other vendors. If I raises prices for certain cigars, due to a demand of the aged version, people will just go elsewhere to buy current releases. People have been hyper-inflating aged stock in auctions for years, but that has not filtered down.

Like many on here, I've said I prefer aged cigars. Whilst I tend to age them myself, I'm not against picking up an aged box of something, but only if I think the box is worth the cost. If I don't win the box at auction (at the price I'm willing to pay), so be it, I move on to the next box. If I never get that box, well that's just life. Hell, I'd love to have more aged Cohiba Siglo VI, but I'm not willing to put that much coin down on it.

I bet these auctions are going to show how much money people are willing to pay for stock.

don't think Prez et all aren't going to notice the demand, and willingness from the BOTL are willing to pay.

I hope this doesn't' affect the prices offered on 24:24 but lets face it, there are folks who will pay just about anything for cigars.

Money means different things to different people.

Those who think they are going to find deals on a FOH auction will be sad...in fact, I think we are going to see premiums paid like never before.

If you don’t have the means to play at the table, stay out of the casino?
