Males grabbing whatever they see fit (what they want is a missus of course) on their route to the spawning pond. The python just happened to be in their way. Funny, - or sad, as it seems to indicate a high popul. density - but not at all that strange. Our Common toad does the same when on migration, bar we don't have pythons.... Have seen them mounting fir cones, branches, garden hoses, other amphibian species....
