ponfed Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 So I never had enough cigars piled up that it would be hard to keep track of age, quantity, tasting notes etc... But now I'm getting there! That's a nice problem to have, but still. How do you keep track of all your boxes, bundles, cans and singles. Maybe you just don't and rely on memory and whatever box code is still there? Excel sheet? Hand written ledger? Software, mobile or otherwise? Thing is I looked around quickly for android software that did this, but none really did it for me. Or worse, you had to create an account and it was part of a social media platform... I just want a database, could you please stop shoving social media down my throat? I don't wanna know that Tim in New Orleans think I should restock on RASCC... So sound off, what do you do? Or don't do?
NYMets01 Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 I feel your pain. I’m not big on social media and hate how so many apps are becoming tied into other accounts. I’m not sure if it’s available on the Android platform, but I’ve had good experiences with Cigar Register. It’s got a wide ranging database, it’s intuitive and can keep track of a multitude of fields. Give it a shot and let me know what you think!
fitzy Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Eh I use an excel spreadsheet but I"ll have to give cigar register a shot.
NYMets01 Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 I’d highly encourage you at least give it a try. I’m in finance and live and die by excel spreadsheets. I went that direction at first but this app has really swayed me. It’s surprising to me that I don’t see it mentioned more often. Only challenge you’ll have is manually entering everything from the spreadsheet to the app!
fitzy Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Is there a field for entering box codes /dates?
mt1 Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Too many to keep track, better to spend the time smoking The Aficionado app on Android has an inventory feature but I don't use it.

There truly is a shocking number of fields...many of which I don’t even use but I like the completeness overall. The catalog of cigars is also quite extensive. Something like over 9,000 in the database with little notes on each, such as how they are boxed etc.
Sup3r6 Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 I've been using the Collection feature on www.cubancigarwebsite.com for a while now. Its got everything I need, box codes, cost, dates, place purchased etc, You can even add/create customs. 3 1
IanMcLean68 Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 I was using Excel (and I still do for backup), but have since rolled my own software ? Nothing superfluous, and geared towards FOH and 24:24.

Only minor problem is you can’t sort, but what the heck.
Boozebag Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 I use a spread sheet. Simple enough. Track date arrived, box date, box code, and quantity. Plenty of extra space to add notes. I also add location note (shelf, etc.) so I can find easily should my collection grow beyond my memory. I keep my bands, so adjusting quantity is easy enough. Put them on my desk until I adjust, then toss 'em in the jar. 1

wineguy Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 I have been using a spread sheet but may look at one of those platforms. If only you could import the data from the spread sheet.
Head83 Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 One more vote for cubancigarwebsite.com. I fumbled with a few apps and spreadsheets till I found this. It tracks everything I need in a simple format that is always accessible as long as I have the internet.
mikeyjb Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 I use an android app called Aficionado. Its quite powerful, handles multiple humidors, tracks cigars in/out - so many features!Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
anjimj Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 I keep it simple by using an excel spreadsheet. I also have a tab for cigar budget vs. Actual spent and needless to say I am always over budget.

I’m a data geek and that seems like a great app. It’s too bad Apple has a pretty low tolerance for tobacco (and other “vice”) apps and severely limits availability.

You can add your own notes for the cigar;Search the database for any cigar; And you get the cigar info usually from the manufacturer; And if the database doesn't have the cigar yiu can contact the author and they add it straight away.Sent from my phone using Tapatalk
ponfed Posted September 7, 2018 Author Posted September 7, 2018 Well I'm sold on Aficionado!!!! The funny thing is, I saw it in the Google Play store, but didn`t check it out cause I thought it was a half-baked marketing app for the dumb magazine. Skipped right over. Thank you all for the answers. I really thought there were more spreadsheet people though.. 1

I often add obscure cigars that I find and smoke to the database, and the admins are nice enough to actually respond and even edit the pictures I send in so that they appear in the database. It's not the BEST app I've ever seen but it's certainly by far the best cigar app I've used.

SMQQKIN Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 I am a control freak when it comes to data & don't trust other sites to house my info. I previously used a site that crashed & lost all my info. It took quite a bit of work to reload my inventory. A simple excel spreadsheet contains everything I need to track, is easy to input/read, & can sort it any way I desire. No fees, easy to backup & I have total control. After you get it set up it is easy to modify based on your needs as well. However, different strokes - do whatever works for you. 1
Lotusguy Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 How do you keep track of all your boxes, bundles, cans and singles. I don’t. I like to surprise myself. I have a rough idea of what I have in my head - or so I think. 1

I can't work it out or find instructions anywhere.Cheers Sent from my SM-G903F using Tapatalk
