Popular Post madandana Posted September 5, 2018 Popular Post Posted September 5, 2018 Stones throw from Italy and you would think they’d know what a Negroni was. Nope, so I went back to the bar tender, found someone who spoke English and explained. It (they)were pretty good. Funny thing is when we got our tab it was called an Americano. Good times! 9 1
99call Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 If you're still in France and get the opportunity in some sort of silver service place, I'd definitely recommend the old school desert of 'Crepe Suzette'. A, it's bloody delicious and B, when done right is a nice bit of theatre. Also aparantly it was invented in the Cafe De Paris in Monte Carlo 1

An Americano is a Negroni with soda water instead of gin. You talked him into the switch?

JohnS Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Yes, an Americano cocktail has Campari Bitters, Rouge (or Sweet) Vermouth and a splash of soda water. A Negroni Cocktail replaces the soda water with a shot (usually an ounce or 30 ml) of gin. I can't believe you were that close to Italy and they didn't know what a Negroni is? Wow! 1
