I met Steve at one of Di's family functions. We were sitting next to each other over a fine lunch drinking some particularly good Italian Pinot Nero. 

We got to talking and his passion/hobby is crafting musical instruments.  I mentioned cigar box guitars and he said that he had always wanted to make one. Well, he actually made two and gifted it to me today.

Very nice, @El Presidente! Now the big question is, can you play it? If not, I suggest very roughly learning a Springsteen song and performing it for @Ken Gargett at the next vid review. I think this might result in the best outtakes of all time. ???

fantastic. why does it have drains in it?

met a guy at eumundi who had a stall with these. heaps of them. really good stuff. he said the problem he has is that he can never get any cigar boxes to make them. gave him contact details but never heard.

It's the the same idea as a resonator guitar, those 'drains' give the instrument volume.

I'd be interested to know what pitch those 3 strings are tuned to, @El Presidente?

@JohnS @El Presidente If those strings are tuned E A D then you should be able to play most songs using power chords. You should be able to knock out TNT by AC/DC.

It's probably accurate, I believe @Ken Gargett lives way out in the sticks.. ???? @El Presidente has to take a packed lunch just to get out there ????
