El Presidente Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 Ben could use some help comprising an amalgam of reviews for the new carts. I have already given him mine but we all have differing tastes. On this thread and for those that have smoked one, please give us a brief review of your experience focusing on flavour/s, strength, body etal. if you can, let us know your box code. All reviews will go into the draw for a sampler. Lisa will draw it Monday or when there are enough reviews. Many thanks H Upmann Connie B H Upmann Regalias Monte Leyenda Monte Maltes Monte Dumas Ramon Allones Silver Jubilee
Islandboy Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 I’m dry boxing a Regalias now, just the second one for me. I’ll post my thoughts after taking flame to it. 1
prodigy Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 And I have none of those sticks. Interested to hear what some of them are like though!Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk 2

I don’t know the boxcode on them, but i could certainly give them a review. I definitely enjoyed the dumas that i smoked already - which is saying something since I generally despise montes! ? 1
Popular Post Islandboy Posted July 19, 2018 Popular Post Posted July 19, 2018 H Upmann Regalias LUB Jul 15. A very pleasant, straightforward smoke with no surprises. Draw and burn remained spot on throughout. Solid medium on flavor; medium strength, approaching full at the end. First half was dominated by a cocoa powder base, with a deep, sweet leather element. Second half saw a nice sweet cedar replace the cocoa. There was a pleasant sweetness the entire way, but of a more subtle, deeper variety than the vibrant caramel sweetness of the HUPC. No real wow factor, just a very solid, pleasant cigar. And well behaved. Nothing bad to report here. 5
dominattorney Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 I had a Dumas on my honeymoon. While I thoroughly enjoyed the cigar, what made the evening special was the company--smoked it by the beach at night with my wife--and the beverage pairing--Havana Club 7 year rum (simple, yet elegant). The cigar gave me trouble with the burn, but nothing that a few relights couldn't cure, and it was none the worse for the wear. I enjoyed the flavor profile, which was reminiscent to me of a good, aged Edmundo--cocoa, cedar, earth. At least that was the profile I got. Very nice 90 minute smoke. 1
Diabolicalpherpher Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 Ramon Allones Silver Jubilee ASR DIC17 picked up a 5 cigar sampler here so I don’t know if the box code/date is accurate since it was also mentioned as *mostly. Cold draw was barnyard and after lighting, you knew you were smoking a Ramon Allones, very fruity from the start. Medium full to full smoke and the fruitiness can be tasted through out but felt a bit harsh and muted the flavors a bit. Construction and burn was decent, only a few touch ups to even out the wrapper burn. after I passed the Asia-pacific band, the youngness showed up. Underneath all the harshness and the youngness, you taste the RA fruitiness. It definitely needs time down and once the harshness smooths out, I can imagine it being a spectacular smoke. One last note is that it is a very strong nicotine hit, an after dinner kinda cigar and not a morning coffee smoke. I won’t be touching the rest of my sticks for at least a year or two to sample again and looking forward to it. 2
Guest Nekhyludov Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 I'll be happy to post up some reviews of the Monte Linea 1935 after they acclimate for 90 days, if it would still be useful then. 71 more days to go ...
KavalanWhisky Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 I smoked the Dumas a few weeks after smoking a Leyenda. It was quite a disappointment. The burn was very bad and had to touch up a lot, as you can see from the Ash above it was opening like an onion! Flavours wise it was relatively light to medium, a few hints of toasted nuts and not much else. Very plain first 2/3rds and only really progressed in the final third to have a bit more punch. Would rate it 82/100. Leyenda on the other hand was amazing, would put it in the top 3 cigar's I've smoked. The construction on these is great, very tightly packed and similar size to the Monte 80. Burn was great, super long ash and very white. Flavours were smooth and distinct almond flavours and medium to full flavours. There was not too much transition from first to second third but the final third packed a decent punch and would highly recommend. I'll give it 91/100 2
Wilzc Posted July 22, 2018 Posted July 22, 2018 Started off decent, slightly muted. Just south of medium bodied. Flavours were bright. If I had a blind tasting session I would have thought of a Partagas Serie D, ones with wrappers on the pale side of things. Zero Montecristo DNA. Faint chocolate, mild cedar, slight grass, a little woody. Once I reach the 2nd third things started to get interesting! Darker richer flavours came through. Chocolate turned far richer and more pronounced, earthiness rose from the grass and wood. Slightly north of medium body now. There is a familiar mineral finish to to it now. Coffee, chocolate and mineral salinity! Now the Montecristo side of it appears! The nub end was less enjoyable, smoking outdoors in Asia has its drawbacks. It’s less exciting now with a plethora of tastes that is best described like eating dark chocolate off the ground in a damp forest. Overall, it’s not a bad smoke really, just depends on how the price finally settles in. I understand this is going to be Monte’s flagship range for now therefore anywhere from 300-350USD for a box of these, while exorbitant, would be acceptable. I also hope that a little more age on these would help expand the experience I got from mid-stick. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2
