MoeFOH Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 (hopefully not literally, unless it's your pine nuts or almonds...), what's your go-to home-cooked dish when you need to impress the socks (or pants, depending on the scenario) off of someone?
MrGlass Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 If it's for up to four people, I'll cook eye fillets with duck fat roasted potatoes, mushrooms and some veggies. My Weber baby Q does a fantastic job with steak, you just can't fit an awful lot in it. If it's a bigger group, I cook roast beef with a horseradish and mustard marinade that's wrapped in a bacon weave. It's pretty easy to put together, feeds plenty, and you can pair it with whatever salad takes your fancy that day. 1

earthson Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 Northern Italian cream sauce pasta. Can be customized for the group/occasion. Last time was shallot, dill and crimini with grilled Cornell chicken. A real panty-dropper, that dish. 1
Kitchen Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 Pretty much anything that involves braising, which I take to the next level. Usually I spend a minimum of a day and half on braising a piece of meat, combined total of marinating, to searing, to slow cooking and the final preparation. My two favorites are braised short ribs then seared & wrapped in caul fat served with root vegetables, and mole shredded pork tacos with re-fried black beans. My favorite cuisines are French and Mexican. 1
Habana Mike Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 center cut filet mignon with seared foie gras and cognac cream sauce is my go to panty dropper dish....
