Once they fully got their hands into production and design, you started having the transmissions failures, throttle failures, computer failures... FORD: Fix Or Repair Daily
SigmundChurchill Posted June 8, 2018 Posted June 8, 2018 I have had many cars since getting my drivers license in 1985. American, German, Japanese, and British, and they have all been reliable. I hope I’m not jinxing myself, but there has not been a lemon in the bunch. <edit>. I dont know if this counts. I had a BMW M3, with the low profile runflat tires, and every time I hit a pothole I would get a flat. You cant repair runflats (or at least you couldnt at the time), so I had to get a new tire. At the time, I was living in Hoboken NJ, and there are a lot of potholes in Hoboken NJ. Over the course of the 3 year lease, I had to go to the shop 7 times to replace tires. Thank God they let me still buy the tire insurance after the first flat.

Used examples were in high demand in the UK due to the hefty depreciation on new units and at one point I used to fly over to Germany to bring back used units. All the Integrales sold in the UK were LHD anyway, so bringing back German units was no issue. I used to blast from Cologne to Vlissingen on the Dutch coast at around 180km/h to 230km/h (depending on traffic conditions). My favorite trick was to accelerate down the slip road to the autobahn and overtake cars already on it, such was the phenomenal acceleration enjoyed by the Integrale. That looks good! We never got that stuff over here....What powertrain in them?
BellevilleMXZ Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 BEST 2002 Volvo V70 2.4t Still have it, as a beater, with 515k klms on it. Has been solid as a rock.Still looks great and works well. Now have a 13 XC60 T6 and a 2015 V60 Polestar....hopefully they turn out as well WORST 1981? Volks rabbit diesel....oh mannnn what a POS. A buddy raved how good they were so I bought one from him, as young with a new kid and driving alot....though, hey great mileage!! Major engine and electric issues were just the beginning of the problems. I still remember the day it ran away driving home from work, drinking its own oil/blowby. Took off like a raped ape until i got it shut down. I still shake my head at getting talked into that thing!, And I'm a Tech at a Chrysler/Fiat dealer, and Fiats blood creeping into Chrysler, has not been good, even if Chrysler was never the best to begin with.

It had a 4 cylinder 2 litre Turbocharged engine producing 200 bhp that was good for 220 km/h and 0-100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. Transmission was a 5 speed manual. Doesn’t sound like much these days but in 1989 for what was essentially a souped up hatchback, this was huge. It also had 4wd which allowed all the power to be put down efficiently. It was a real blast to drive. The Subaru WRX of its day.

Frozen North Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 The best vehicle I’ve owned to date was an 07’ GMC Yukon Denali. Drove it for 8 1/2 years. Never spent 1 minute in the shop. No lemons.............yet. Although we do have a Porsche and 2 BMW’s right now.
NSXCIGAR Posted June 10, 2018 Posted June 10, 2018 Best: 2005 Ford Focus. Still have it. Bought in 09 w/ 80,000 miles. Now has 205,000 miles. Other than wear parts and battery I've spent a total of $25 on repairs and it was last week (coolant overflow tank hairline cracks). Worst: 1985 Mercury Cougar. Bought it in 1998 with 70,000 miles on it. Made it 20 miles from the seller and the engine seized.

Was it inconvenient to be in the shop every quarter, sure, but it was so much fun to drive. When my lease is up on my current X5 (5.0 vs M) I’m going back to a performance model. I’m a glutton for punishment, but I’m a HP addict. But I will shop around the different brands.
