I am trying to learn everything I can about CC and it can get confusing and overwhelming. Is there anywhere I can look and find all the different brands and shapes and sizes and descriptions? Then when people start talking about age I almost give up. I stepped up and ordered an Arictocrat M Plus from Bob that should be ready mid-late  April. The humidity temperature thing was very confusing to me so I figured this to be my best bet. I know it's personal preference  on cigars but I'm just wanting the cliff notes version. I have been searching the forums and reading everything I can but I have to admit I get lost sometimes. I am like everyone else and want to get the most for my $ and just need some help.

Hi @BOSCO,

We have a Newbie Q&A section. Recommend you pop over there and have a look. Shoot through any questions on that thread and they will be answered.

Slow down....it s all here....When buying dont go headlong and purchase everything on a whim....Try and buy samplers....find out what you like...then build yourself a nice rotation...then age a few...smoke alot...share with friends....offer cigars and make new friends....recieve cigars and feel the love

I remember what it was first like 6 years ago when I was welcomed onboard....

Today I am still a newb....so take your time and enjoy ...Replies above have pointed you in the right direction

Send me a pm anytime.....anything...just ask

Happy hunting Bosco

The website link posted by @encephalization above is exactly what you’re looking for...and more.

Soak it all in like a sponge, and it’ll soon be you offering advice.

Yeah the cuban cigar website is the BOMB!

Definitely check out Rob's store and buy a sampler or two. The links for the Aussie and International stores at at the top of this page.

I remember the feeling oh so well.  All the information you will ever need is somewhere on this forum.  To go through it all would take a long time, but it's there.  Use the Search function, but there are sub forums below the Watering Hole that have lots of good information.

Relax, and enjoy the journey.  I have one of Bob's M plus boxes, and I guarantee you that you will love it, and I also will guarantee you that you will wish one day soon that you had bought a larger unit.  The fun will be filling that thing up.  Piece of advice:  expand your credit card limits.

PM me with any questions.  I'm not an expert, by any stretch, but I sure know more than I did six years ago.  There are many experts on this forum that far exceed my knowledge, and they will be happy to help, as well.

And don't miss to check out @Ethernut's Noob-thread:

Ordering an Aristocrat M+ without having much of a clue about CCs is quite the move. You are taking it serious Sir....

I can't add anything much than what's already been posted! I would agree the most with the sentiment that don't rush is the best way forward. The journey of discovering what you do and don't enjoy is one of the best in the hobby, take your time, make notes on what you like/dislike/flavours etc and enjoy it :)

That's a good read also. Makes sense. Thank you

@BOSCO What Fugu said! ?? I wrote it for you. You’ll be less lost and much more at ease after reading the Noob thread. (Thx Fugu!)

Like I tell my trainees....

"Cumulative exposure".

Keep coming back.  Keep reading. Keep trying things to see what you like.  No need to rush things....  You'll never know everything.  No one can.  But you'll find at some point you can recognize a stick in a picture and call its size with certainty. You'll have learned a general flavor profile.  You'll know what you like and what you want to venture to try next.

It starts to fall in place.

Take your time and enjoy.

I have to say I’m a bit jealous that you’re just starting your journey. It’s been over 8 years for me and it’s been fun. Enjoy learning, don’t rush it and buy small format! That’s the best advice I can give you.

The MRN book on cigars is nice to have.  Not sure how easy it is find currently.

Habanos reference poster framed above your new Aristocrat would be neat:

I have an original one framed from the UK, but it's in storage at my parents' house.  They are friends with framer and I when it was done I never decided to pick it up.  The frame doesn't match my decor.  I do plan to swap the frame and mount it somewhere.  Originally I thought above the Aristocrat, but a TV is in that spot...
