This is good policy.    If "newb" questions bother you, better to move along rather than offer up snarky comments.

Make sure the RH in the box (and the room it is in) is lower than that of your humidor! Especially if it has been raining for a few days. People sometimes forget or don't realise their home could have

You would have to pry it from John's kid's hands. They wear it more than he does!

Noobie question - after watching PigFish's video on % moisture content, howcome % moisture content is not the standard way people measure how they want to store/smoke their cigars? Until I joined this forum - given that I'm relatively new in general, I never even realized temp played such a roll. I always just assumed RH was the only particularly relevant thing. Is it not the standard to measure % moisture simply because it's not feasible to have such information? And people who are into cigars just know they're both important so they inherently monitor both?

What's easier for someone new to cigars to understand; telling them that a little doohickey that shows temp and RH is what they need and to keep it at a certain level (eg 65F/65%RH), or telling them they need to store at a certain moisture content and handing them a chart... plus the little doohickey so they can do the calculations.

The KISS principle applies here. Some people just want to enjoy their cigar, others want to delve further into all the nitty gritty, and all shades in-between. The temp/RH method works for most and is easy to understand.

I have a question about the ranking system. First of all I apologize if the information is already posted and I missed it. I am curious about the rank is their perks to higher ranks? Do I get a higher rank from submitting post and replying to others that have posted? Just wanting to know the ins and outs I am completely new to this site and cigars in general.

Unlimited Sir Winston for 30 days.

Rankings reflect contribution to the community. that may also reflect respect within the community.

That and free cigars.

I was looking around the site and saw a post for cigar samplers. Is that still a thing?

No. That ceased when the supply situation changed during the Covid-19 era, post 2020.

There are 5 pack samplers on the Fabrica 5 link. Highly recommend.

I think I still count as a newbie. Been wondering for years: what does 24:24 MEAN?

I think the best explanation for the term comes from the fact that a '24 hour sale' in English means a sale of stock for a short time, not necessarily 24 hours, literally. For a business, it may be a sale on the day it is held, so literally it would be maybe eight to ten hours. On FoH, the 24 hours sale would last until stock was sold out, or until the next day. Usually, the stock would sell out (and quickly)!

So, if we take the first 24 to mean a 24 hours sale and the second 24 to mean a literal 24 hours; then know that the Weekend sale used to be called 24:72 because it would go for three days (i.e. the Friday, Saturday and Sunday) or until stock sold out, which it usually did. But that was all in the past...before the Covid-19 pandemic and the rationalisation of the Cuban Cigar industry which has so greatly affected current supply.

Actually evolved after Rob stopped doing Live From The Humidor/Warehouse sales, and started the 12:12 sale; 12 cigars posted at 12pm.

Greetings from Toronto, Canada, where yes, we can get Cubans, but they are a complete and utter ripoff thanks to an insane amount of tax! It's great to be here. I'm trying to get my hands on some Puro Desnudo Canonazo N6s but have no idea if they are available in Canada. If someone can enlighten, I would be grateful. Thanks all!

Just place an order through the Fabrica5 website. Cigars are shipped out of Miami.

With prices what they are, what Cuban cigar do you recommend for a new Cuban cigar smoker who really only smokes Connecticut wrap cigars (leaf by Oscar and the Perdomo 10th anniversary)?
