My crazy uncle came back with a box of these, and they do look pretty tempting to those who don't know.

No reason to tell him the truth though, because, well, he is always right regardless of the evidence.  He's also 68 going on 21, still gets in bar fights and always keeps a certain amount of cash on him ... for bail.

Last year met a nice couple at a bar in Puerto Vallarta, the guy had purchased a Cohiba Robusto Glass Front four pack on the beach for $25. I told him they were fakes after he asked me what I thought.  He actually offered me one and I smoked it, and it was not terrible at all. Maybe just below average for a NC, good old Mexican Tobacco.

Not horrible value at $6.25 a stick.

I have always had a thing for Te-Amo cigars.  Mexican tobacco can actually be quite decent.

I had a coworker/friend come back from Cancun with a box of them FOHIBAS over this past sumer. He gave me and a few others cigars and I knew instantly, but I just didn't know how to break the news to him. I ended up bringing in a real Sig 6 and told him to compare the bands and I would show him how to avoid this from happening in the future, but he was still very confident they were real. I just didn't want to pursue it any further so I thanked him for the cigar and then gave him the Sig 6 I brought in to compare and told him to smoke them both and tell me what he thought. I haven't heard anything since.

I think he may be a little embarrassed or something even though I told him not to be and that that stuff happens all the time. Like the original post said their marketing model is just so intense your comletly surrounded by them its hard to fathom how they are allowed to get away with it the way they do.

Most people who buy these aren’t really cigar smokers anyway.  They just want to be able to tell their buddies back home that they smoked a Cuban down in Mexico. Let them have their moment.  More real ones for us!
