Love these old photos!  Thanks for posting!  I wonder what a turn of the century humidification system was like...

Actually, in 1919, the war was over. What a fantastic picture. Cuaba Divinos? LOL

I knew there would be one, well done Sir,           The Germans still live among us!!!, doing sneaky things like improving our furniture design!!!, and maximising the efficiency of  our engines.!!!! it's just not right something must be done.

I would love to know what the largest RG cigar was in that massive, glorious room. Stick for stick, it would likely take a gymnasium to house the same count of the behemoths that roam the earth these days :rotfl:

Honest question:

Were cigars back when this photo was taken were better than cigars today or worse?

I think this falls into the same category as "was Cy Young better than Clayton Kershaw?"

Possibly fun to speculate, but ultimately unknowable.

Stunning picture. I imagine you could probably buy several of those Cabinets for the same price as a box of Talisman. Where’s my time machine!

My opinion on this, is similar to Nekhyludov's but I would suggest that a happier workforce also puts out a better product. also factors like modern pollution levels, different seed etc etc.

Im not sure cigar smokers would of been as needy as we are today. i.e searching for blends denoting sweet manuka honey, tuscan leather, and crushed orchid petals etc etc. I think the blends would of been biggest bang for your buck. All the images I've seen of bundles of this age have very dark wrappers....but who knowsr

You just know whenever these chaps went outside of work they would have been nasally abused; every passerby sniffing their way to completion on the rich miasma evaporating off these lucky fellows!

Their partners must have had an even better time:

L -"darling take off your clothes this instance"

G - "With pleasure, m'lady!'

*Stripped bare; knocky knees on show for all*

L - "Marvellous. Now leave the room, Gerald, i wish to be left alone for a time..."

Yes sir, 3 million La Corona Coronas please.  No, I don't think I'll smoke them all here.  I'll need a few horses to pull these home as well.
