Buck14 Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 EDIT UPDATE OCTOBER 21, 2017...I’ll be in Toronto the work week of Oct 29, I will for certain go up to Smokin Cigar at least one evening and maybe two, let me know if anyone wants to swing by that week, probably Tue, Wed OR Thu for me ************************************ ORIGINAL POST BOTL, I am heading up to Toronto tomorrow for the work week for business. I will be staying downtown. I was wondering if I could get any recommendations on cigar shops and bars/lounges? What is the smoking landscape up there? I would like things in downtown, however, if something is spectacular I am willing to grab a taxi/uber and head out of city center 20 minutes or so. Thanks.
El Hoze Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 I'll jump in since you're leaving tmrw and can hopefully give at least some guidance. I don't live in Toronto or spend a ton of time there. Smoking is effectively banned indoors. There are a couple of private areas in the city you can smoke but very few. And in terms of shops the taxes in Canada make it prohibitively expensive really to buy anything so bring your own smokes. And a warm coat. I generally look most fwd to some of the restaurants in Toronto. If you like oysters/seafood Rodney's Oyster Bar is one of my favorite places on earth. 1

You know I have never been to Toronto but I scoped out two restaurants on Trip Advisor that looked good - Rodney’s was one of them. Glad to hear you liked it.
LordAnubis Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 Indeed. You can’t even smoke at the lcdh. When I was there about three years ago you could smoke outside the LCDH near the footpath, but I heard rumours that’s been stopped now as well. Montreal is where you wanna go for a smoke. Glad to hear you liked it. If you like oysters it is a not-miss. I am a huge oyster nut, whenever I see a list of "Top Oyster Bars in the World" etc. I have usually been to most and Rodney's for me is at the top of the list. Super cool place. And Rodney himself is quite a character. I'll sometimes go several times in a trip as I could eat (good) oysters every day.

Wow, I feel terrible for the BOTL in Toronto. I think I’ll just hit some good restaurants and maybe a hockey game instead of killing myself for a smoke. I thought Chicago was bad.
Squarehead Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 I know of one shop where you can smoke outside and that is in Burlington about 80km(50miles)west of Toronto. If you want to go cigarshopping here ,make sure you have increased your creditcard limit
canadianbeaver Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 Check out Smokin’ Cigar on Bayview Ave. Love it there and was there just Thursday and Friday. They are knowledgeable, friendly and the cigars are beautiful. CB 1

ChrisMG Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 With Marijuana being legalized in 2018 I assume a push will be made for some changes to the smoke free Ontario Act. Hopefully this opens the door for cigar lounges in Ontario. ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Dellasmg Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 You might want to check out a place called Frank Correnti Cigars: 606 King Street West Toronto, ON, M5V 1M6 Phone: 416-504-4108 It is Canada's only manufacturer of Cuban hand-made cigars. They have been doing it for 4 generations and has allowed them to be an exclusive importer of the Cuban Raw leaf. I have bought from them several times, they are rolling daily so you can buy fresh or aged stock. They also have a lounge but I haven't actually stayed to smoke there before. Welcome to Toronto, sorry the weather is so shitty this week. Marco 1
hedgeybaby Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 This interests me greatly as I should be moving to Toronto in a few months. Indeed, my visa application landed on my desk from our lawyers this morning, so hopefully this time they will approve my application. 1

hedgeybaby Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 Just moved to Toronto. I will have to check Smokin Cigar as its just around the corner from me. I checked out the LCDH and was impressed with the shop but the prices were sky high. In some ways this city is fantastic, but it really annoys me that there isn't anywhere to have a cigar.
