Popular Post El Presidente Posted October 9, 2017 Popular Post Posted October 9, 2017 here is the story: Some U.S. visitors to Cuba complain of symptoms similar to embassy 'attacks': U.S. https://ca.news.yahoo.com/u-visitors-cuba-complain-symptoms-similar-embassy-attacks-222544934.html The best parts. On Friday, the U.S. embassy in Havana identified the Hotel Nacional and Hotel Capri as the two places where it said embassy personnel had been targeted over the past few months, and said the U.S. government had "imposed limitations on lodging" there. To be honest, whenever I use to say at the Hotel Nacional.....I felt sick. I can only imagine if I were paying $400 USD today how sick I would feel Receptionists at both hotels, when contacted by Reuters, said they had not heard of any restrictions. Both said they had Americans registered there and their managers were not immediately available for comment. Really? they said all that? More likely after answering the phone they would have yelled "Que" and hung up. Rosa at reception is a beast. 5

Danimalia Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 Weird stuff. I still believe traveling to Cuba is plenty safe for Americans. I would be curious to know if any of the affected American tourists reported their symptoms before the initial media reports. Of course, the vague symptoms might not have been anything that occurred to them to report until they first heard the news reports. That article was the first I'd heard of the theory that it was pissed off Cuban-American exiles... I mean, they have blown up a plane in the past, right? I will wait for some hard evidence before I put much faith in any of the possible explanations.

clutch5150 Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 Well Americans cannot supposedly stay at any Govy run establishments any longer? So we're safe now....
kuma Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 Cigar Jones most likely. I'd bet "Dollars to Donuts" that this was in fact a matter of not having a custom roll or the first smoke upon entering the country. "CLJ" Cigar Love Jones most likely is the malady!

It sounds like the ringing that's in my ears all the time. But mine came at the hands of listening to Led Zeppelin cranked up all the way in a car with the windows rolled up. Now the ears ring all the time. I have chosen to ignore it. Doctors said it might go away with age, but hell, I did this 12 years ago and at 62, it's not going away. 2
oliverdst Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 The Guardian is saying it may be "mass hysteria".
mk05 Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 I identify this high pitched buzz in areas where electricity is being stripped from a main source for octopus wiring. I'm not an electrical engineer so I can't describe it clearly, but I recognize that sound in bad neighborhoods where everyone steals electricity.
Foulhook Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 Wouldn’t be the first time the Cuban military used this method. Similar to NRAD
PaulP Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 19 American travelers to Cuba report symptoms similar to those suffered by diplomats http://www.miamiherald.com/news/nation-world/world/americas/cuba/article197255084.html
Popular Post cmbarton Posted January 30, 2018 Popular Post Posted January 30, 2018 As an American that traveled to Cuba last year, I can attest to having some very strange symptoms in Havana. I went to El Floridita, ordered one of the drinks in the funny glass everyone else was drinking, and just minutes later I was feeling a little dizzy. I went outside to get from fresh air and this gentleman sold me a coconut with a straw in it but the coconut milk was either spoiled or poisoned because this time my dizziness only got worse! Desperate for medical attention, I flagged down a CoCo Taxi to take me to a hospital. Of course I don’t speak Spanish but I figured “Medio” was close enough that the driver would understand what I was asking. Minutes later I was dropped off at some hole in the wall medical facility called La Bodeguita del Medio. The young nurse in all white behind the counter mixed my prescription and this time I even saw her open a fresh bottle of water with a yellow “Havana Club” label on it so I knew it was safe to drink. Well, something was definitely put in my drink because I don’t remember anything after that. The next thing I remember is waking up on the sea wall of the Malecón, cigar ash all over my clothes, and my pants halfway unzipped. 1 5

You forgot to mention that inside the Hotel Capri is ... Salon Rojo Now if any of those people spent time inside that place I can believe their claims to hearing ( and moral ) damage ... 1

I didn't hear of anyone on the cruise ship I was on almost a month ago having any issue, 1400+ people. How many of them stayed at the Capri and the Hotel Nacional?
El Presidente Posted January 30, 2018 Author Posted January 30, 2018 12 minutes ago, PaulP said: How many of them stayed at the Capri and the Hotel Nacional? In regards to the Nacional, Hundreds of people stay there every single day. Much less at the Capri. I know tour operators in Havana (Toby being one) who have been booking tour groups into the Nacional for 15 years. While there are issues at both hotels ......... intentional sabotage hasn't been one.....except for putting on the worst breakfast in havana (Nacional) in the hope no one comes back the next day (more to share among themselves and to sell on the black market) 1
Corylax18 Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 6 minutes ago, PaulP said: How many of them stayed at the Capri and the Hotel Nacional? I stayed at the Nacional and in a Casa Particular directly across the street from the Capri for a total of 9 days last November. The answers here, though in jest, are all FAR more plausible than the narrative that someone is attempting to perpetuate with these completely unsupported accusations. Go to Cuba, spend a single day there, then try to convince yourself that anyone there is capable of fooling the FBI, CIA, and Canadian governments with sophisticated electronics. No part of these stories hold any water, at all. Hotel Capri literally has a "night club" in the basement and a bar on the roof, both with live LOUD music 4-6 nights a week, add an outdoor concert venue, and the constant hustle and bustle that is Havana and you have yourself a constant (about 20 hrs a day) barrage of noise. Add the typical activities of a tourist (and their consequences) and it would be odd not to experience some negative side affects. 1
