i do have to take issue with one thing here - "easier to... believe than men"????

we are talking about a 2,000 year old fictional time lord with two hearts and lord knows what else. who keeps regenerating and who travels the universe in a police box.

dress it up any way you like but i'm thinking male or female is sitting dead set level on the believability barometer.
