Jauwels Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 Hello friends, What will you choose 25box or 50cab? I think 25 box are box pressed? Box pressed more flavor or i must go for 50cab? Best regards, Jauwels

Philc2001 Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 As far as I can tell cigars are no different between dress box and cab. I've had great cigars in either format, but generally most seem to prefer cabs for aging. I believe box pressing is from packaging, but they are made in the same round molds, and they go through the same QA, sorting and preparation.
NSXCIGAR Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 There should be no difference in blend between the two versions and I don't believe this is a cigar that ever had a discernible difference in blend between models even in the old days when such differences were common. Personally, I prefer cabs and non-box pressed, all else equal. 2
ElJefe Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 I'm currently smoking through a Hand Picked 16 Box from Prez here and I definitely am on the lookout for a 50 Cab to put away for the long term. I too prefer the classic rounded vitola shape, as oppossed to box pressed. As some other members have stated, there is no difference in blend, sorting, grading, overall Quality Control. Buy dress boxes with 2 years of age on them if you can, to smoke in the short to medium term. I'm sure others can chime in on how more recent boxes are coming along. Jump on a PSP 50 cab for a 5 to 10 year nap. Just my subjective two cents. 2
MahDooRow Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 There is no inherent difference in overall quality or flavor between a dress box and a 50 cab. Box press vs. no box press is purely a matter of preference. If I was looking for a box to smoke in the near-term I'd buy the best box available and wouldn't worry if it was a dress box or a 50 cab. However, I agree with those who lean towards a 50 cab for aging. 1
BrightonCorgi Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Certainly 50 cabs look cooler and the cigars that are dented from the ribbon can be fun. I don't see much difference in either format in terms of aging except when we are talking multiple decades. If you wrap either presentation in wax paper for the long haul, the difference is even further reduced. With all that being said, there is something special about the cigars that are in the middle of the cab; only touching other cigars... In the end for me, it's about space and dress boxes are so much easier for me to store. Half empty cab or less takes up a lot of room for not so many cigars... 1
