prodigy Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 I have recently been looking into cabinets. They are pretty expensive, especially when temp control is added in. I found a vinotemp on Craigslist for $150. Temp control and humidifier included! I'll post pics when I get it set up inside the house! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk 2
luv2fly Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 Congrats!!. Do a search for wine fridge/Vinotemp. Lots of great info about these types of storage units and how to make the most of them (if you don't already know). Will definitely help you going forward. Pay attention to posts by Mr. Pigfish. The man has probably forgotten more than I will ever know! Do post pics when you get it all set up! 1
prodigy Posted July 3, 2017 Author Posted July 3, 2017 Ok, I'm kinda in trouble. It's way bigger than I thought. It barely fits in my house!Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk 2
prodigy Posted July 3, 2017 Author Posted July 3, 2017 This is the humidifier it came with. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk 1
prodigy Posted July 3, 2017 Author Posted July 3, 2017 The temp control unit appears to be working!Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk 1
prodigy Posted July 4, 2017 Author Posted July 4, 2017 I just need to buy new shelf brackets. Some are missing. This should take care of all my storage issues, for a while...Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk 1
Popular Post luv2fly Posted July 4, 2017 Popular Post Posted July 4, 2017 Don't worry about it being too big, soon you will be saying it is too small...... 7

GrouchoMarx Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 Never met a humidor that was "too big". Looks great! 2
BuzzArd Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 It's not too big, trust us. And you don't need the shelves anyway. They take up storage space. LOL Hard to play Tetris with them in there. Nice score! 1
Popular Post PigFish Posted July 4, 2017 Popular Post Posted July 4, 2017 That is quite a find, congrats. That BreezeAir unit alone is very pricey. You might want to open up the cooler and check it for rust, leaks and mold. Make sure the drain line is working and water tight, you don't want a swamp! Find the drain line and make sure the humidor is leveled or biased toward the drain hole in the cooler. Happy smoking! -Piggy 6

I was going to send you a pm, but you find my post already. I don't see any drain line. It's pretty much all self contained. I looked all around the unit inside and out, nothing. I have the humidifier up and running. It seems to be working quite well, I just need to play with the settings and get it dialed in. I really don't want a swamp! Any tips on finding the drain lines, opening the unit up for cleaning etc would be great!Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
PigFish Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 There has got to be a drain line somewhere. Depending on the maker some like a pool of water in the cooler so that they can rationalize the drop in rH when the cooler runs and say that the water is collected in what could be loosely defined as a closed loop system. I find this flawed thinking, but over think a lot of things... -LOL When you have a relatively high rH (over 30) in conditioned space you are going to condense water anywhere the temperature of the water vapor gets at or near the dew point. This is compressor dehydration and it happens in your car (that water it drips), your home AC, the condensate line that runs outside or to a drain, and it happens in refrigerated humidors. The water... well, it goes somewhere and you might as well hunt it down. My opinions are rather harsh, so don't go taking drastic steps until you run it and see how it works, but be wary of the water 'problem.' Where there is a cold plate, there will be condensation and water. The correct handling of this water (IMHO) would be to make sure that the pathway is clean and recycle it back to the humidifier. While the humidifier is not a 'sealed' vessel, it is at least a semi-sealed vessel and this helps the inevitable rH creep issue to be found in any humidor that is not stuck in an rH negative ambient. Your ambient rH might solve this, your ambient heat in the form of cooling cycles may also solve it, however this leads to what I call an 'accidentally' controlled system verses a true direct and reverse controlled system. More shit for you not to worry about at the moment... Best of luck and if you have questions just post them up or email me. Happy to help as long as I have the time... You got a lot of equipment for the money... so you scored even if you have to put some money back into it to make it work correctly. Cheer! -Ray 3
prodigy Posted July 5, 2017 Author Posted July 5, 2017 Ok the only options to look inside the cooling unit is the front plate or the back plate. I'll take both off later and see what it looks like inside. It's been on for a while now, temp and humidity have stabilized. I haven't seen any water collecting inside or out, but I'm on the hunt for the drain line!Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
RolandHeadlessGunner Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 I'm so happy with igloodors (3 and counting), that I don't touch wood-based humidors anymore. I rarely need to add water. The seal is perfect, each new box of cigars is already humidified and the cigars act as there own humidifier element. I have some beads that I mist periodically, but the hygrometer almost always says "not necessary." Igloodors aren't much good for display purposes, though! Doug 2

Looking forward to seeing some pics of cigars in it
prodigy Posted July 7, 2017 Author Posted July 7, 2017 The humidifier that was included seems to be all over the place. The controls arent very accurate as far as dialing things in. I will be looking at the avallo accumonitor system, unless anyone can sell me on a different option.

I recently picked up a Set and Forget system from Staebel and Assoc. It's been fantastic and I can't say enough good things about the customer service that Bob provides. Just call him up and he'll make sure that you get the best system for your specific needs. http://www.aristocrathumidors.com/electronic.htm
BuzzArd Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 I'd try and figure that one you already have first. It's supposed to be a good unit. I went with the Le veil DCH 56 just because I wanted the large capacity tank. It has worked fine and it looks to be less expensive than the other one that you are considering. How many cubic feet is the cabinet that you have?
