Dream Cigar Beverage

If you could pick any beverage or bottle to pair with a cigar (regardless of price); what would it be?

Hm, I a big fan of the older Black Bull blended releases - I ration my remaining bottles for the good cigars I smoke.

At the moment, I am divided between a top of the range rum, a peaty but not too peaty whisky like high-end Talisker, or a chocolate stout. 

I need extensive testing (and a bigger budget) to determine the best option.

I would say a great calvados (Roger Groult - Réserve l'Ancestral!!)

Or a great armagnac... (Laubade would do)

Or a great scotch... (why not Talisker 18)

Or a great Vintage port... (Fladgate 00 anyone?)

Or a great rum... (let's say Bundabeg MDC to please our Australian friends)

Or a great Cognac... (any Montifaud)

Or a nice stout... (I like St-Ambroise)

Or a great bourbon... (huge fan of Buffalo Trace - nothing fancy)

Lots to choose from.  I guess I'm easy ;-)

I like most of your choices (and some I have no experience of) but the Talisker 18 and the St-Ambroise seems to be similar to my choices.  However, as an Aussie, or at least one who has lived here for the past 30 years, please do not call Bundaberg  a rum, its an abomination, but not rum.  I refer to it as a randomly distilled spirit with "strong industrial cleaner" influences.

I didn't mind the MDC...  but now that you have stated somewhat clearly how you feel about Bundaberg I totally agree with you that there are better rums out there ;-)

Hot Chocolate is not one I would never have thought of. Maybe something I'll try next winter. Any particular flavor profile you try to match with it just when ever you feel like hot chocolate?

Any cigar is good. Yes, certainly more a winter beverage than summer.

For me it would have to be Madeira, Terrantez being my favorite.  Verdelho coming in 2nd.  

Vintage Champagne 2nd place.

Very good Anejo Tequila like Arette Gran Class.  

Although there are many spirits that get paired more often with cigars such as heavily seated whisky, or over sweet rum. Few drinks actually denote more of the core of fine cigars more that high class Anejo Tequila.  Pungent cedar, grassy notes, desert spices, etc etc.    I started off drinking all sorts with cigars, but if you want something thats is in step with, as opposed to vying against you cigar, I would strongly recommend giving it a go.

There are those those think tequila is just white, and something to drink ignited, for them I feel truly sorry.

For me, the piercing acidity in Madeira makes every puff of the cigar nice and fresh.  Similarly, but not as substantial with Champagne.  Some sherries are good for that taste sensation as well.

Actually there is a modern combination that is 'spot on' for the dark Irish beer lovers you might be interested in!

Quesada have produced a cigar blended especially for Irish dark beer enthusiasts called the 'keg'. Had this combo last weekend!
