Got any full boxes in your humi that your OCD won't let you have one? Just can't bare the thought of watching the process of depletion begin?

Had a friend go down to Cuba and said he would bring me one box since he was fairly stocked. I got him to pick me up a full box of HdM Regalos EL 2007.  Only box I have that was bought in Cuba, even with the receipt to prove purchase!?

For some reason I've just never been able to smoke one. I open the box, and I see that perfect row of what I hope el pres would qualify as Psp or high HQ and can't bring myself to break it.

No idea what's held me back for 9+years on em. Maybe it's the beauty, maybe it's bc it's the only full box I have in my humi (at moment until all the 24/24 roll in), maybe it's something else.

i just hear "eh, today is not the day" and grab something else.

I have more than one I've been unable to crack.  If I had to pick one, it would be a 2009 Sir Winston.

same here....its not breaking open a box its when I get down to those last few I find myself smoking them less frequent, even if I love them.  I want to make them last as long as I can.....

Ive got a box of 2012 BBF that I haven't been able to bring myself to open. They are not the greatest looking cigars, and I don't love Bolivars, but I bought it anyway since it shared my wedding date and we were married in Bolivar, Missouri, so its a sentimental home run. I always contemplate smoking one, but I'm not sure Ill like smoking the cigar as much as I like having it. Maybe Ill pull one out for my 5th anniversary, I dunno.

Had box of Bolivar Especiales RE's that was sealed and someone offered me 1K a couple of weeks ago; so off they went.  I don't have any single boxes outside of LGC Tainos that I have are untouched as far as I can remember.  Every other untouched box I have an additional open one along with it.

I have a few:

LGC Delisoso Jar

HUSW 2010

Des Dieux 2011

Partagas SdC No.1 2008

Diplo No.4 2008

Rafael Gonzalez Corona Extra 2009

Vegueros No.1 2001

but normally once I can't bring my self to crack the box I can smoke through them

Like others, I have nothing that I'm unable to open. But let me get down to the last two or three cigars in a box, then I'm a mental case.

Don't have a box I wouldn't crack open but then again I just got back into it and don't have any aged stock.

Nothing is sacred !!!

as little emotion involved in opening a box from '09 or from '89 .

same with finishing a box off !!!

My collection isn't yet as extensive as most of the guys here, but I have some Lusi's that I really want to resist trying for another 2-3 years. I've come to the conclusion that I just need to keep buying more until I have a box to age and a box to smoke over the near-medium term

Stop depriving yourself.  You have to light them up sooner or later, you can't take them with you...

Try gifting the first one to a fellow BOTL, the rest will come easy.  Enjoy them!

That's a good plan, second to flipping em for $1k  like @BrightonCorgi ??

alright, unless I get some insane offer, there will be a herf in Atlanta shortly where I crack the box and we can all assess the smokes and enjoy em ??

What I do if I have an outstanding box that I want to last I'll move the last 6-8 cigars to what I call long term aging (even if there already aged) and they will typically last many many more years; then smoke when the mood or occasion calls for it. The upside is after doing this for a long time you get a nice selection of your favorite cigars to continue to enjoy and you can enjoy them knowing there are lots of others still waiting for their turn.

I have been the beneficiary of this same exact principle from other mentoring BOTL'S many a time.

Used to happen to me too, then I put myself on a self-imposed buying boycott, and soon found I had to crack open all the cabs I had stashed. Before I knew it I smoked down most of my cabs. I only started buying again a year ago, and now I have a lot of aged odds and ends (onesie, twosie) that I can't bear to part with, and a bunch of 2015 and 2016 stock that are too young to smoke. Dilemma

Waddaya mean, I can't take them with me?  I plan to have a box or two for general consumption at my wake, and the rest of my stash will join me on the funeral pyre!!

Hasn't happened to me with boxes, mostly because I always smoke one of every box as soon as it arrives for baseline comparison.

It does, however, happen to me with singles.  I have a drawer full of special cigars that I do not touch -- mostly single specimen of very early ELs,a couple of Festival smokes from custom humidors, and a very few Cuban Davidoffs.  With these, I KNOW that when I light them, that's it, there will be no more, end of.

OLH - phisically impossible. Have a few boxes and cabs at home unopened but not because I cant open them. Only because I have same cigars from an older batch already cracked open... but no problem to start a box really. I boughy them to enjoy it
