SaintMickey® Posted December 26, 2016 Posted December 26, 2016 I so wanted to vote on this....but it's closed. Over the last month or so I have either started or ended my cigar outside then inside and I have come to the 100% firm conclusion that I am an indoor smoker. There is no doubt that I enjoy cigars indoors where the temperature is controlled (hot or cold) and where I feel I can enjoy the experience the cigar better...less variables. Have I had a glorious cigar outdoors? Yes very recently from Maine, the Poconos,Santa Barbara California and down to Key West...no doubt about it. A great cigar can be had outdoors. I just like mine better indoors. Love to hear your thoughts...and don't be persuaded by wives, family, smoke/smell, sheds, tents, garages, air purifiers, ozone generators, kitchen exhaust fans etc. If given your druther what would you pick? On the last poll lots of votes and only a couple comments. And by the votes I know where it's headed but I would still love to hear why. 1
PapaDisco Posted December 26, 2016 Posted December 26, 2016 I've also a preference for indoors, if properly ventilated. Fresh air is kind of a palate cleanser I guess. I'd always smoke out of doors if the temp were a constant 70F and there was little to no wind, but alas Mother Nature will not comply. So I smoke outside when I can, but the vast majority of my cigars are smoked indoors; where the piano and the liquor are!
SaintMickey® Posted December 26, 2016 Author Posted December 26, 2016 Just now, PapaDisco said: where the piano and the liquor are! LOL...good point!
NSXCIGAR Posted December 26, 2016 Posted December 26, 2016 Indoors, hands down. It's very rarely feasible anymore, however. 4
Sean3 Posted December 26, 2016 Posted December 26, 2016 Outdoors mostly, but if it's hot...indoors w/ac. I'm a big boy and overheat easily.
bman75 Posted December 26, 2016 Posted December 26, 2016 There's nothing like a lingering room note of a great cigar. My house is worth 20K US and I live alone, so I have this luxury. 2
El Hoze Posted December 26, 2016 Posted December 26, 2016 I live in Miami on the water. When the sun starts setting and the temps cool a little bit, opening all of the windows and sliders while watching the sunset creates the ultimate cigar lounge as I can control the flow of air. I spend alot of time traveling to cold areas during the week so I always appreciate coming home and enjoying a cigar under the ideal conditions. Having said that, I am fairly flexible when it comes to cigars and have enjoyed them in varied situations! Kind of like good sex, a good cigar will compensate even if enjoyed in less than ideal conditions. 1
MahDooRow Posted December 26, 2016 Posted December 26, 2016 This is where I enjoy the vast majority of my cigars, so I'm definitely in the outdoor category. 3

I've been on plenty of high rise patio (3 side walls) and it felt more indoor than outdoor. Screened in porch is probably the best scenario. For me I think its all about how well the smoke can linger. I've been outdoors in Miami and Key West where the smoke hung thick in the air from the humidity...I can do that kind of "outdoors" for sure.
CanIGetAHolla Posted December 26, 2016 Posted December 26, 2016 I recently finished converting a basement room into a man cave/smoking lounge, complete with an inline exhaust fan. I am almost exclusively an indoor smoker, now. 4
godpheonix Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 garage but with side door and main door slightly open which actually give a nice air current going through so the smoke is nicely drawn out! the reason for this is i'm getting minimum or no distractions from the weather and other crap. the only down side, no smoking in winter! which is bitter cold here in NB Canada! and really, i'm ok with that so its about 5 months cold turkey! but it gives my body a break and clears those toxins from my body so i'm good to go another round of 7 months of pure smoking bliss, and then it starts over again! LOL

LOL I definitely agree that winter gives the body time to "rest"...no matter where we are! Cheers.
Mattb82 Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 I definitely prefer indoors but find myself out in the freezing cold lately. I would say I'm outside 80% of the time. I can't stand smoking outside when it's really hot 1
foursite12 Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Count me in with the screen porch crowd. Outside but out of the sun and heavy wind. Ball game on the tube, feet up, fridge nearby.
Dave001 Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 love to smoke outdoors when weather permits otherwise indoors it shall be
Colt45 Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 While I enjoy smoking inside from time to time, pretty my all my smoking is done outside. Why? Mainly because I would not want to smoke in my house. On a side note, my experience is that smoking outdoors allows me more perception of flavor definition, while smoking inside tends to flatten flavor somewhat and make cigars taste much more similar to one another.
RWhiz Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 I have three places I usually smoke, my backyard at our house in Nevada, our deck at our condo in Tahoe, great views there BTW, and inside my shop in Nevada. The shop is heated and insulated, but I rarely turn on the heater. That is the only indoor place I smoke, and that is rare too. I enjoy smoking outside, the views, and being away from TV and all, no issues with smells or ashes either. I used to smoke more in my shop, just because the weather was bad, and I wanted a cigar, now mostly when the weather is bad I just abstain from having one. 1

No wrong opinion here..... but I could literally type your post word for word but swap indoors for outdoors. I get so much more complexity and flavor and yumminess indoors I can not even compare the two. So interesting. 1
LGC Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Prefer indoors, but ends up being mostly outdoors at home (can't be windy).... or driving in the work van. Indoor areas must have proper ventilation and high ceilings. I hate smoking in public lounges filled with smoke. If I can't even smell my own cigar, I'd rather not smoke at all. The aromas are a major part of the experience for me.
inmotion Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Outdoor in summer when not windy and winter time garage or in car.
HarveyBoulevard Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 I smoked inside yesterday for the first time in two years. Now I remember why I don't. Even with good ventilation, I just don't enjoy the experience. I have gotten accustomed to smoking outdoors on my patio in just about all temps and conditions. I smoke outside when its 110 deg or 38 deg. Just find shade or bundle up. I smoke outside when its rainy or sunny or anywhere in between. Just find cover...and/or bundle up. I don't get much wind so it is not really an issue. Living in Southern California makes this easier than most I guess so I am very lucky in that regard. 1
