I remember visting my friends in Evergreen (right outside of Denver) and there were elk that would just walk on the side of the road down to the town. Pretty cool stuff. Great pics.

My current project is for London Gatwick Airport replenishing 600+ trees at what is officially known as the Pollution Lagoon. I kid you not. I'd much rather be dodging elk in Colorado...

My new project started this week in Estes Park, CO. Since we have such a kickass international community here, I thought I would toss up some photos from the job.

Seeing Elk in ths quantity on a daily basis is a rarity anywhere but here. We listen to them bugle and bleat most of the mornings out here.

Bro - that's a beautiful place to live.  Wish I could get out of the Long Island rat race....the grown kids in NYC and the rest of the family will keep me here for awhile....

I envy you.

Beautiful, Tim!! What is it that you do?

I am a Highway Inspector. I get to tell contractors they suck. Lol! We are a consultant to the state dept of transportation (CDOT)

This is Fish Creek Rd. in Estes Park. The creek flooded out horribly 3 years ago and this is the final phase of reconstruction.

We have been trying to spot Big Daddy--we can hear him bugling in the distance but we never saw him. He came out to challenge the other day but the pic came out a little dark. When Big Daddy tends to his girls, it's best to keep your distance.

Nice pics Tim, beautiful country up there.

Once when hiking in Yellowstone during the rut, I came across some pretty big herds in the backcountry.  I put myself in an inconspicuous spot and watched them through my binoculars.  Had a blast just watching bulls defend their harems.

Yeah in the background of the 1st pic, the rest of one of the herds in on a fairway of a local golf course. During the rut, they tear the s$%t out of the greens grinding their antlers into them. Now they cover them and put up elk fence. That's the black fence behind the bull in the foreground. PGA greens have to be built to certain standards. Multiple layers of low nitrogen fertilizer, organics etc. Yeah, they are pretty pricey.

They were all belly deep in the pond today. They are definitely the kings and queens of Estes Park. :) Rangers drive up and down our site with antennae to track the ones with collars.

Beautiful, thanks for sharing.  I'm incredibly jealous.  Estes Park and RMNP are some of the most beautiful landscapes I've ever experienced.

If you can't be home, that is a great alternative!
