Hello gents, I just bought a box of monte petit edmundo from the 24:24 section. Any idea if these are good smokes after they get acclimated or do I need them to sit for months before I can enjoy them?

I had my first one ever once my box spent 30 days at rest coming home. It was wonderful. Give them the 30 days but then enjoy with confidence.

being like a kid at christmas, when I got my box of petite edmundo last week, try as I could, I couldn't wait...I finally had to enjoy one just yesterday (7 days to rest in humi is sad, I know) and was in bliss for the next 45 minutes.   full of cocoa and at times pepper, never harsh even in the last 3rd....could have it been even better if I waited?  sure....but whats life is you can't enjoyed it now.    hope you have a great time with yours...I know you will.

I have not had the same experience.  Tried two from a box and found tight draws, very little smoke production and unsatisfying flavors.  Will leave them alone for an extended period and revisit, hoping they have some kind of upturn.  They look MARvelous, but definitely didn't satisfy.  Seriously hoping I'm alone in this. Hate for others to have a bad smoking experience, but for now I think mine need much more time.

I recommended my brother-in-law to try the Montecristo Petit Edmundo and recently we tried a few from the box. They had a favourable box code (ARG JUL 15) but when we smoked we got no further than the first three puffs and we both instantly realised that these cigars would require 'work' to finish. So I lamented to my brother-in-law that best thing to do to get through the dominant toasted tobacco flavour was to smoke very, very slowly and draw small puffs, otherwise we would find the strong flavours overwhelming.

After completion I exhorted him to put them away for awhile...perhaps the ligero leaves were a tad strong in the blend and they may mellow out. Time will tell.

Otherwise, I find these to deliver a satisfying 'cocoa-hit' usually, only, this one time it didn't .

I also was fortunate to get a box from yesterday's 24:24. Is it strange that with box date of 2016 it's possible for the old bands?.

Yes, it's definitely  possible. Habanos S.A has a reputation of using all their resources in their packaging, nothing is wasted.

One of my favourite cigar.  As for the rest period I leave them alone to acclimatize for 30 days but this is far from being an exact science.

Just opened an HQ 10 box today from 2013 to try for the first time with the father in law and the 2 we took where plugged rock solid around the band area, completely un-salvageable.  All the remaining 8 in the box feel exactly the same, the first inch to the band is like concrete. This was my first time with the PE and Inhad been saving this box for a special day, also it's the the first time I have ever had a complete box unsmokable.  Absolutely gutted!

Smoked one from the box of 10 dated April 2010.  What an amazing smoke!!  Draw was perfect and the flavors are just amazing.  Super smooth with milk chocolate, fruity sweet and the fine cuban twang.  Just amazing.  I bet that 6 years of aging made it perfect.  I would rate it 95.  One of the best cigars I smoked this year so far!!  I did dry boxed it for a day and it was store in 63% condition.  Good thing I have a box of 25 on its way.  Will age those for at least 3-4 years before smoking one.  Luckily  I still have 7 left from the 2010 box!!
