Popular Post El Presidente Posted November 3, 2016 Popular Post Posted November 3, 2016 Congrats to all you Cubs fans While not a baseball tragic, I am a lover of Sport and nothing is finer that a hoodoo finally being broken You have been waiting to celebrate this for a long long time! 6
5thStarChicago Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 Cheers, Prez. Late night celebration here in Chicago. Zero productivity in the city for days, but we're going to sell a boat load of cigars! 1
anacostiakat Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 I was actually awake for this one! Congrats to the Cubs and their fans!
JohnS Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 The saying goes that Baseball is a 'game of inches' and this series there were many, many examples, too many incidents in each game to list here. I think off the top of my head that both teams collectively scored 27 runs each. In the end the difference was 1 innings and 1 run. It was so, so close for Indian fans. I do hope they prevail in the Fall Classic in the near future. Congratulations to the Cubs. They came back from 3-1 down, I think it's only happened 5 times. I think Ben Zobrist should play for the Mets next year (Sorry folks, I had to throw that comment in there)!
irratebass Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 Last night's game made me wish I had a TV in the garage (man cave) where I could have smoked during the game. Oh well, I watched it all, and it was one helluva nail biter. Congrats Cubbies, you've earned it!Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk 1
rxavier1979 Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 Congrats indeed! What a game?!?! I mean could you have asked for a better game 7? To come back from a 3-1 defecit is something incredible in and of itself. To win game 7 of said series on the road??? And wow... Constant drama, lead changes, ties, extra innings, rain delays... Wow. Just wow.
LLC Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 Epic game and series ️. Spring training starts in four months Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2

Puros Y Vino Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 Fantastic game. Best I've ever seen. Was rooting for the Cubs, as I needed to see the Indians lose as payback for the Jays. Though, they were the better team. Cleveland had a 3 - 1 series lead and just couldn't put it away. Though game 7, was valiantly fought on both sides. Lot's of weird errors and plays to swing things back and forth, but in the end, an epic, memorable game. 1
BuckeyeSmoker Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 this was the worst loss ive experienced in my 33 years of cleveland fandom. pretty sure my dad was crying when we spoke on the phone after. screw the cubs 1
brutusthebuckeye Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 First I would like to congratulate the Cubs..they hung on to win..hats off!!! As an Indians fan since 1985 today was a real bad day..As soon as Rizzo put ball in his pocket I turned the tv and haven't watched or listened to any sports related shows not even the local talking heads.. Only twice in MLB history has a game 7 gone into extra innings and the Indians played in both and lost both (97,16).. The way things are going I'll be 60 the next time the Tribe play in the WS and if I'm still alive I don't kno if I'll be able to watch.. I haven't had this kicked in the gut feeling since 1997..it sucks Oh well atleast my Brownies are in mid season form at 0-8...?? ***Cavs winning championships was cool but I'm not a big NBA or Lebron fan so I'm still bitter Cleveland fan...? 3

I'd think they'd still be the favorites in the AL to get back next year. Even if they don't resign Napoli, they'll get Brantley back, Gomes hopefully will be healthy, and of course Salazar and Carrasco back in the rotation. If they'd had either of those starting pitchers available to start in the WS, you'd have to think they would have finished off the Cubs this year. They're still going to have a great bullpen, and they'll still be managed by one of, if not the single best manager in baseball. They have a bona fide 22 year old superstar in Lindor, a very good 2B in Kipnis, and a good mix of young and experienced players up and down the lineup. Kluber is under contract through 2021 with the team options. It would be different if the Indians were missing critical pieces, or if they were about to lose key players through free agency. But they lost game 7 of the WS in extra innings with so many key players on the shelf. As with all championship teams, they just need a little better luck. And I know that's the rub for Cleveland teams and their fans. But once the sting wears off a bit, I'd think most fans should be pretty excited about the next couple years for this team.
JohnInCleveland Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 The Indians had the most magical season I've ever seen, a team with an 80 million dollar payroll losing 2 of their 4 best starting pitchers and making it to extra innings in a game 7 is heartbreaking. It was a remarkable run and it was a real shame to fall short. I don't mention to injuries to make excuses, only to emphasize how "against all odds" it was to demolish the Red Sox and Blue Jays to even make it. Hats off to Chicago, I'd have been rooting for them if it were any other year.
Trigga Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Thank you! This has been a dream come true. So happy my 91 year old grandparents were able to see this in their liftime. That made extremely important for me...
Hedgehog Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 Can anyone ID the the cigar Dexter Fowler had during the parade today? RyJ Wide Churchill perhaps?
SMQQKIN Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 What a year to be a Cubs fan. A fantastic group of people in the front office & on the field. It is amazing how much they accomplished turning around the organization in just 5 years. It's been a long time coming is an understatement. I was fortunate to see the season opener in Anaheim, game 3 of the NLDS in San Francisco, games 1 & 2 of the NLCS in Chicago, games 3 & 4 of the NLCS in Los Angeles, & games 4 & 5 of the World Series. Many of those games were shared with my wife & 14 year old son. Memories I will always cherish. Couldn't swing game 7 or the parade unfortunately. 5,000,000+ at the parade today. October was quite the ride! I need to go on a diet after all the draft beers & stadium hot dogs. I have enjoyed so many celebratory Cuban cigars - it is time to restock. What is the most rewarding is to see how much joy this season has brought to so many people that are fans of sport. 1
Bohn007 Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 For all the Chicago fans here, we need to plan a cigar night sometime soon. 2
