Wow, I just had my first PLPC from a box TOS FEB 16 that I received from our host.  I must say, it was one of the best little cigars I have ever had.  After only resting for a week, it was like a perfect little caramel stick. I was too busy enjoying to take pics.

Smoking it was a treat, shockingly smooth and delicious. Caramel and brown sugar were front and center.   I'm so glad I have 49 more to go through in the coming years. I may have to pick up another cab to put away.  If anyone can find this same box, don't hesitate, buy it!

They won't all be like that when young...but it is a hint of what is to come!

Enjoy

So now there is now another box that I need? LOL

After every petite corona (or smaller) I smoke I continue to convince myself they are my favorite.  Had a Party Short last night and it was sooo good.  Just amazing really.  Smoked 5 cigars when I was on vacation in August and they were the following 5:

1.) Aged PLPC

2.) Dip Bushidos

3.) Mag56

4.) Aged Epi 1

5.) Bolivar Royal Corona

I (strangely) struggle to say this but......they are in order of enjoyment above.  I have a feeling the Mag56 and the Bushidos will be better in 5 years, but out of those 5 at that time the PLPC was my favorite.

Happy to see this thread. I also received the same box code on the cab I recently got from Rob. Probably won't look at them for a year or so but after reading this who knows.

I really like Rob's guidance on the PLPC: Buy a cab, smoke half now and put the rest away to age. Repeat the next year. I will try my first one tonight after work. I have been dying to try one since I got on the board here.

Absolutely outstanding cigar, especially with good construction and maybe 3-6 years of age. Keep your RE, LE, extra fermentation - these were blended for me!

I too scored a 50 cab of PLPC from the recent 24:24.  It's in the back of the humidor where I can't see it, and I hope to keep it there for at least 2 years.

Does anyone else wondered why PLPCs are the only vitola marketed ONLY in 50cabs ? :)

SLRDC is ONLY 50 Cab.  According to CCW PLPC was available until 2002 in 25 ct. dress boxes and 25 ct. SLB.  I can't remember seeing one anywhere though.  Maybe some people who have been in this longer than me have?  Two very special cigars for sure.

I'm going to have to hide this box really well to come close to keeping it for 3 years!

Agreed - I may just smoke half of these over the next 12 months, put them away and buy another cab.  Seriously, what a treat.

I have had dress boxes of 25. They were available only from certain european countries; I got mine from Andorra, but only because all the shops were out of cab 50.

Prior to 2004 or 2005 the PLPC was a rare cigar in Europe, not even distributed in France nor Spain.

Although I've never been (and never will) be a big fan of this cigar, I've found the db25 version milder, more floral, less desirable than the cab version.

And IMO it was a better cigar when it was a "confidential" production – in my memories it was richer and more complex…

Second Rob's comment to the OP. In their first 2+ years PLPC will get your attention.  If you like being smacked about a bit (and who doesn't), they can be a blast to smoke young. They can also go through a phase where they are just plain awkward and out of balance--I have a 2015 cab that went through a period 6 mos or so ago that was so strange I wondered if the traditional quality had taken a hit. Then had one the other night and things seem to be correcting course but you get the picture--this is a cigar that historically goes through quite an evolution.  You may get a faint lashing of the much vaunted caramel in an occasional cigar at this early stage but be sure to get an older one to sample to see what may be down the road.

This thread jinxed me I think.  Mowing about an hour ago grab a PLPC and baaabam total crap.  Ugh.  Ken says old lady's handbag this tasted like a dead mans wallet.  Like a rotting corpse had been laying on it for a couple years, and before they died had sprayed some sort of cheap awful perfume all over it.  I'll have to check if "rotting corpse" and cheap perfume are on the flavor wheel. Yuck. Absolutely awful.  Put out about halfway through.  And that was a struggle. Guess they can't always be great.  First really bad one of these I've had.  Gonna have to get out something really nice for later.

Glad to hear it, I too bought a box from that 24:24.....or atleast I think I did, I'm trying to forget about them for as long as I can.

They age a charm and you will be handsomely rewarded

The only thing I would change about the PLPC is to make it a corona gorda size. The cigar is too small!

If it were that size it wouldn't be as good as it is.  Love the small ring gauge cigars.  Tons of flavor.

I enjoy these fresh and aged. Was recently given one from 2001, and I'm really looking forward to see what happens to these after 15 years.
