Ken Gargett Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Never say never again: Daniel Craig ‘offered $150m for two more Bonds’ Despite ongoing speculation as to who might replace the actor, Sony have reportedly tried to secure Craig’s services for a further couple of movies I expect you to be rehired … Daniel Craig in Skyfall. Monday 5 September 2016 A new day generally brings a fresh frontrunner to inherit 007’s tuxedo, with Victoria star Tom Hughes the most recent to join the likes of Idris Elba, Tom Hiddleston and Aidan Turner. But according to a source reported by Radar, the most likely candidate to star as James Bond is Daniel Craig. Craig, 48, has already starred in four films, and despite a rumoured $65m (£48.66m) payday for 2015’s Spectre, was apparently sceptical about returning for more instalments. But pre-release qualms (“I’d rather slash my wrists”) were felt to have been overstated and, in the absence of an obvious replacement, Sony are said to be keen to sign him on for at least two further films. The actor added that he reserved “the right to change my mind” about quitting the series. Daniel Craig: I'd rather slash my wrists than play James Bond again Read more According to Radar, Craig’s public reluctance may even have helped his cause. “[He] has played a genius hand,” said the source. “Everyone knows how much executives adore him, and the idea of losing him at such a crucial time in the franchise isn’t an option as far as all the studio honchos are concerned.” The $150m would apparently involve two more films, shot “virtually back-to-back” – but neither would be shot by Sam Mendes who, despite the critical and commercial success of Spectre and its predecessor, Skyfall, has ruled himself out of returning. The final decision rests with Bond producer Barbara Broccoli, who in July was reported to be focusing on the next two films, with a view to potentially rehiring Craig. A spokesperson from Sony Pictures said the company had no comment.

cigcars Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Although I'm NOT a Bond fan, last night I did take the time to watch "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" with George Lazenby's one and only James Bond venture. And IMHO he didn't do too half bad a job...in fact, he was downright good! And I loved the humor of the opening action filled sequence in his saving Diana Rigg...where he said, "I'm sure the other fellow didn't have to go through this!" I don't know why this was his only Bond film because HE could have played Bond a few more times for what I'd seen...and again I'm NOT a James Bond fan - at all. But I will watch a few these days because I love the close details and intelligence associated with them. My guess is - was he a possible threat to Sean Connery's position? Lazenby was handsome, intelligent - and very, very humorous! "Diamonds Are Forever" came on immediately afterwards (although I didn't stay with it to watch it all the way through), and Connery's Bond seemed to be a bit nastier, more ruthless, bloodthirsty and absolutely heartless in his opening sequence. Hmm - a statement being made by Sean, or something??? Hmm??

Hmm - a statement being made by Sean, or something??? Hmm?? connery wanted out before OHMSS. i believe that they held extensive auditions for the new bond but had got nowhere. lazenby was an aussie model who happened across the auditions when going to a modelling gig. walked in out of curiosity, asked what was happening. they told him so he walked through and the casting directors said who are you. he replied, i'm your new bond. got the gig. his first ever acting job. after the film, the directors liked him and offered him a contract for another 7. his agent talked him out of it. lazenby was later to say he didn't mind at the time as he was so busy as bond, he was near celibate, as opposed to the 5-6 women a day modeling allowed. different times! bond was talked into Diamonds by way of a very fat cheque. though i doubt it was within cooee of 150 mill. the bond of the books is very much the nastier character. he was basically a british assassin. not much warm and cuddly about that. the 'this never happened to the other fellow' line reminds me of craig's first film when asked if he wanted his martini shaken or stirred. 'do i look like i bloody care'. but also with the opening of Diamonds, he is chasing his arch enemy, Ernst Stavros Blofeld, who killed rigg, his brand new wife, at the end of OHMSS (and apols if that is a spoiler but it has been out about 40 years. 1

Duffer Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 I'm probably in the minority, but in my opinion Daniel Craig is the best Bond. While I love Connery and have seen every Bond film at least 10 times each, to me Craig brings a darker, deeper, more complex personality to the character. And the movies, bar Quantum of Solace, were all so good!

And the movies, bar Quantum of Solace, were all so good! i think they were the two perfect bonds for their eras. and i really hope craig signs up again. i absolutely hated Quantum when it was released. still do. especially after Casino R which is close to the best Bond flick ever. but i have watched it several times since - still hate it and i think the director should not be allowed to do an 8 year old's concert on an I-phone, but if you watch the parts that are not the violent action, it is not bad. i know that is absurd given bond is all action but it was the fighting/violence etc etc which he really stuffed. the rest of the pick works reasonably well. i was a bit disappointed in the last one. he meets some surly unpleasant woman and two days later wants to run off? i do not think so. can't remember who the actress was but my french friends tell me she is not well liked there. on films, one of the guys at the big tasting i have been to in Helsinki is one of Disney's top execs in Europe. terrific bloke. we had long discussions about star wars and what is happening. i think he was really surprised to think that people could think that the latest was merely a rehash of the very first one. i don't think anyone had told him that. they have now.

ayepatz Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Just re-watched all the movies in order while I was stranded in Bavaria. Shir Shean Connery, as most agree, is still the original and best. But I was quite surprised by my view that Daniel Craig is right up there with him. Possibly better, oh shock, horror!!! I think much of it has to do with the quality of the material, though. With the odd exception - Live and Let Die, The Spy Who Loved Me - the Roger Moore films are pretty ropey. Dalton, who was keen to explore Bond's edgier, "blunt instrument", Fleming style, suffered from intolerably poor material. Brosnan has his moments, but again, the movies are pretty ropey, and old Lazenby was wasted on, for me, the best Bond girl of all, Diana Rigg. The movies took a noticeable kick up in quality when Craig joined, but for me that's not the whole story. Watch Munich, or his performance as the poet Ted Hughes in Sylvia, and you quickly realise that, as an actor, he is of a much higher calibre (Dalton excepted) than anyone who preceded him as Bond. I hope he does at least one more movie, and why not two? Let's face it, he's in a much shape than any other Bond at a similar age. Probably not pulling his weight on the booze front. Lol
polarbear Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 I'm still hoping Idris Elba gets a look in for future casting
MIKA27 Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 Your tiltle says I'd Do It For Half The Money... I'd do it for free purely to say I was James Bond 1
Fuzz AI Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 I'm in the very small minority... I can't stand Daniel Craig.

frenchkiwi Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 interesting, i'm not sure who my favourite Bond is but Craig (and the storylines written for his movies) is by far the closest to the books. A cold hearted high class assassin who uses and discards the people around him. Hence why i enjoyed this whole approach in Casino Royale etc 1
