Bartolomeo Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 I like Upmann, I don't care for the Mag 46/50 but this new 54 was a very good, young cigar tonight, think of Conn A blend in shorter, fatter format, boxworthy IMHO #hupmann #habanos #magnum54 #cuban

NSXCIGAR Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 I guess the availability on these is getting fairly wide now, but the price point is brutal! Very close to the Connie A, and I just can't see buying the Mag 54 over that. I think the Connie A is priced a bit high but I'm willing to let it slide because it consistently delivers the goods and it's technically a special release. I'm not sure if there's still a premium on the Mag 54 because they still are trickling in to vendors and we should be expecting a price drop at some point but right now the pricing is at least 10% higher than it should be IMO, especially considering it's a regular production release. Double the price of Connie 1s? That's a real tough sell for me over the excellent recent Connie 1 and similarly priced Connie A. 2

I wonder if this release will be like the Partagas Serie D No.6? I enjoyed them, but their price point didn't offer a compelling reason for enthusiasts to try them in alongside/instead of the Partagas Serie D No.4. Let's see how the H.Upmann Magnum 54 goes in comparison to the Magnum 46 & 50. 2

Let's see how the H.Upmann Magnum 54 goes in comparison to the Magnum 46 & 50. Expand I do agree there are some similarities there. The D5 and D6 are both priced too high, but the D6 is the biggest offender, especially considering it's such a goofy vitola. The Mag 54 isn't quite so bad a vitola, but the price is way too high relative to the alternatives. There aren't really any equivalents in the Partagas lineup like there are in the HU lineup. I would be interested to know how the D6 sells. It can't do well. Perhaps Rob can inform us. I do actually like the D5 as I feel it's a superior cigar to the D4, and I will pick them up when the price is right. But the price has to be right. I don't have any interest in the D6. Can't get into that vitola. 3

I was fortunate to snag a box at 30% off listed price. They are goofy little smokes and quite good but I would never buy them at full price. As for Mag 54 - haven't tried one yet but if it's something in between Connie A and Mag 50 taste wise, count me in, as those two from H.Upmann range are my favorites. But again, buy a box of Connie A's at the same price and double the smoking time and enjoyment! 2
awkwardPause Posted October 21, 2017 Posted October 21, 2017 Bringing this back to see if there is more recent feedback from our community on how these are coming along? I know there have been discussions about relative poor value in the past (understandably with the Connie A still on staff), but I'm just curious about the product itself and how it's aging. It always surprises me a bit that I don't see much on these guys, which I can only assume is because they are not as popular due to price, value or what have you. I have yet to try one myself, but I'm hoping to remedy that soon. Cheers!
Santiago Posted October 21, 2017 Posted October 21, 2017 I smoked one of these over the summer, got it free from my man at the cigar shop. I liked it, found it pretty light, not bad at all but at that price and size and smoke duration there are other options I'd consider first. Good cigar, not great value.
Lotusguy Posted October 21, 2017 Posted October 21, 2017 Smoked one in Hong Kong this week. It had a fireproof wrapper and generally wasn't good. 1
dicko Posted October 21, 2017 Posted October 21, 2017 Ive had a couple of singles..tastes a bit like a bigger h upmann half corona. Would rather just buy more HUHC's tbhSent from my SM-N910G using Tapatalk
CrankYanker Posted October 21, 2017 Posted October 21, 2017 I ended up getting the 54s for $13.40 per stick. Connie A were $15 a stick. Have not tried either but will come back here when I do
zeedubbya Posted October 21, 2017 Posted October 21, 2017 I like it quite a lot, I've smoked about 8 of them and they've all been very good. This is my angry at HSA stick. For such ridiculous prices.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
