Popular Post Ferrero Posted July 22, 2016 Popular Post Posted July 22, 2016 Hello! Just checking in to let you all know my whereabouts and share some photos. Will keep it short. We (myself and Sarah) went on an incredible wine tour of two wineries in Catalonia today. Somehow we got extremely lucky and managed to be the only people on the tour which allowed us a more personal experience. We started out at Ca n'Estella, a small winery run by the 3rd generation of the Rabetllat family. It was a typical Catalan country home surrounded by beautiful vineyards. After meeting the family and being guided through the wine-making process we sat down for some tastings, tapas and took in the scenery. From here we took a 40 drive by the mountains of Montserrat to another small winery (in terms of production); Oller Del Mas. Oller del Mas has inherited more than 1,000 years of history. Located around the medieval castle, originally from the tenth century and completely restored between 1981 and 2008. We walked the vineyard to begin. Moving into the cellars we were able to see the transition from old wine making techniques to the incorporation of modern technologies. Our guide set us up in fourteenth century fermentation 'tank' for our tasting which was an experience in itself. While we were tasting a storm hit but luckily we were still able to get the opportunity to walk up to the top of the tower for some incredible views over Manresa and Montserrat. And that was our day.... Seriously recommend picking up some of the Ca n'Estella cavas if you have the opportunity. Will check in again soon! CIAO! 9
Ken Gargett Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 greg, if you are in that neck off the woods, try and get in at el cellar can roca - truly a brilliant restaurant. it is at girona, about 90 k north of barca. you will never regret it. beg them. in barca, if it is still going, try cal pep for tapas. get there early as otherwise, long queues. 1

Akela3rd Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 Just got back from a few days in Barcelona. If you're in the city, check out the Gaudi buildings (Sagrada Familiar, La Pedrera, Casa Batllo) and Gimeno Tabac at La Rambla 100 for cigars - ask to go downstairs to the humidor basement... wow!

Ferrero Posted July 24, 2016 Author Posted July 24, 2016 Just now, Ken Gargett said: a cruise? congrats on your 80th birthday. Haven't seen my pension yet though... Jokes aside, Sarah is a cruise consultant for a company called Dreamlines back home in Australia. She worked her butt off last year and won this whole trip for us, the cruise being part of it. Not complaining 1
