Tastes, moods/mindsets change. We all go through it. As often as not they come back around again....most times.

I never thought it would be the case......it has been my partner for over 25 years......but of late I can't get much satisfaction out of my beloved Partagas Short.

Different boxes, different years...cigars I know are good because I have thoroughly enjoyed their box brethren over the years.....but now I feel something is missing when I smoke one.

Just finished another now and I am left wanting for a little more intensity, a little more depth. Every Short for the past couple of months has left me the same way. I know it is not because I am looking for a powerhouse....I am reverting to Prince, Monte 4, Rafael Gonzalez PC. They are slowly but surely taking it's place as my "kick off" cigar. I know it will turn around lookaround.gif

Do you have an example of a regular rotation cigar that at one time you would have thought indispensible in your lineup....that you are now regularly "passing over" thinking.gif

D4, but that's not because I don't like the cigar. It's primarily because I'm too bloody lazy to dig into the bottom of the cooler and replay tetris to put things back in place.

For me it's the SLR A I am not getting the flavors I want out of the ones I have so I'm cheating on it with Punch punch and R&J wide Churchill

If I switch from Shorts it would be to the Monte 5, but I like them both so I'm good.

RASCC. Took me forever to finish off the last box I had and I haven't ordered any for over a year. 13-14 production just ain't what it used to be. There's a cigar that peaked in quality in 07-09 to my mind. Box after box was just so solid back then.

I've also been gravitating back to Monte 4 and 5, and El Prinicipe. Recent production has been so consistently good...

This is happening with two of my traditional mainstays: RASS and Lusi. Just not feeling them for the past few months. The RASS haven't pushed the right buttons for me and the Lusis seem more like a chore. I'll invariably pick one up only to put it right back. I'm sure it's temporary.

RASS. Last couple I had just didn't do it for me.

I've been off the Shorts for a while. Habaneros (2015 box) is filling (I'm aware size diff) the void though!

MC 4s... use to be go to and have had 2 in the last 3 months. Not that they aren't doing it for me just too much variety in the coolers...

For me it's the Epicure 1. This was a regular for me, but the last 3 - 4 I have had just didn't really hold my interest. At least when I go back to them they should have a few years of age on them.

Monty 4's - meh

Mont 4s for me...I don't think I'll replenish when they are gone. Not only passing over, may be replacing. BPC and Shorts will likely take their place.

I smoke the Du Gourmet a lot less frequently than I once did due to the last couple of boxes I bought having tight construction.

The Du Depute has now taken its place as my regular Le hoyo.

PLPC and my bolivars (BBF, BRC, BPC, BCG). Really gone off the bolivar profile and the PLPC similar.

I too have left the Montecristo No.4 for awhile, but only because the Montecristo No.5 has taken its place and they've been so good!

Rob (and those who are passing over shorter smokes), have you tried lighting up the recent HdM Petite Robustos recently? I have a box of hand picked from FOH (PUO MAR15) that are incredible with the complexity and breadth of flavors. Hits the ground running as it needs to and takes you on a 40ish minute roller coaster ride through flavor town (sorry just watched an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives).

My regular rotation cigar that seems to get overlooked recently is the Bolivar Royal Corona. I still love these but seem to pass them up for either a BCG if I stay Bolivar or SLR Regio if I stay in the same format.

Have really surprised me. sweet cream/sweeter spices/toasted tobacco from the get go. Was waiting on another shipment to see if they were an aberration as they didn't have that flavour intensity previously. They have always been good/solid but you are right, the recent batch as far as I have tried were special. Not sure how long it goes back.

Party Shorts and Boli PC are usually my go to cigars. Haven't smoked a cigar in about 3 months due to time but I lit up a Boli PC on the weekend and it just didn't fill me with the luster it normally does. So I picked up a JL Numer 2 the following day (DIC 10 code I think) and bang I'm back on Robusto sized cigars - I went through 2 more that day. This week has been a bugger & I can't wait to knock off so I can get stuck into a few Boli Royal Corona's. Not sure if the cooler weather has something to do with my shift. I usually like a heavier smoke when it's cold.

BRC and Epi No.2. I used to smoke a lot of these. I find recent BRC has fallen flat for me. The flavours are not there. I think maybe just a bad year for them. I am sitting on quite a few full boxes so I really hope they are just going through a sick period.

Boli PC's. Just started getting bored with them, TBH. Upmann PC's have quickly picked up the slack.

I am in the same boat. I am sure that they will come back into favor, but for now I am going between the Upmann PC, and the Partagas PCE.

Ive stopped smoking a lot of my PCs, particularly BPC, PLPC, and HPC. I like to say I am doing it on purpose though so that I can age them a bit more. I have a smaller desk top humidor than I move stock into to smoke rather than always digging through my Wineador, and I had a Sir winston and a Cohiba Esplendido sitting in there for almost 6 months. Usually I try to smoke one or the other every month. I know that is not really that regular but for what its worth I had the Esplendido the other night and it was phenomenal.
