1959 MBZ 190 SL. Bought it in primer, for $700 back in '75, and did the exterior and interior when I was a teenager. My Dad had a couple 190's and I did those as well. A dozen coats of lacquer, my car got the MBZ light blue of the period. Dual Solex sidedraft carbs, fitted luggage for the trunk. Had to sell it to pay for college sad.png

Also had a Rambler American convertible that was a simple, but great car for running around with 5/6 friends, and a Porsche 356C that I put a big bore kit and paint job on. A great car, super light, and would go wherever you pointed it.

I have a story, but it definitely wasn't my favorite car. I was in a new Lexus CT200h hybrid years ago when it first came out. Speed was NOT one of its strengths but did get amazing gas mileage. An

1965 Mustang 289 4-speed with hi-perf. motor and pony interior. Favorite of the stable. Owned one '64, two '65's, one '67, one '69 and one '79. The '64 convertible had a rare 170 6-cylinder. Both '65's and the '69 were v-8's and the others were 6-cylinders. Have to say, classic Mustangs are my favorite cars to play with.

Dream car would be a Shelby American - Woo Hoo!

*My two dream vehicles would be (BEFORE they got mixed up with Dahmler Chrysler) the Maserati Quattroporte, a navy or royal blue exterior and tan leather interior.

Second would be the discontinued Subaru Baja, one in sunny yellow color. Isn't it something of remarkable that much of our favorite, beloved things just KEEP getting discontinued...just like some of our favorite beloved Habanos!??

Not a big car guy, but my most fun car was an E46 model 330i. It was the early 2000s in here the San Francisco Bay Area, and I'd never really enjoyed my commute (before or since) as when traffic abated on northbound 280 after the 85 junction, and it was smooth sailing up all the way to Palo Alto. Beautiful scenery, great car, light traffic, and good music played loud. Drove it down the length of Highway 1, once, in 2003:

Only got to keep it for 2 years, as my wife got pregnant with what turned out to be triplets, and a whole set of instant lifestyle changes. :) Still, I look back on my days in that car fondly.

Love my 68 Chevelle SS 396 cu beauty. Nothing like riding down Ventura Blvd in Los Angeles on a Saturday morning while enjoying a 2008 Por Larranaga Belicosos Extra Asia Regional. cid:6B54A3EF-CF99-4B8A-98B1-F779CD55C777

Mmmm, I miss my old mazdaspeed 6. So much fun, perfect balance of luxury and performance. AWD turbo and with mods pushing around 375hp. Miss that car dearly.

I've flirted with the idea of getting the new Ford 250 Super Duty....however, I could get a lot of good smokes for that price...

I used to be a car guy. Living in Mexico for two years with just a bike, taxis and the bus to the airport cured me of that. Now that I'm back in the states its basic transport. A. 10 year old truck with vey low miles.

Don't get me started on motorcycles, that's a whole other story.

Of all the cars I've owned, my absolute favorite was a 1988 Toyota MR2 like the one below. It was the best handling car I've ever driven, being mid-engined. Steering feedback was fantastic as there was no power steering (with the engine not weighing down the front wheels, the steering was light enough not to need it) and it was real seat of the pants driving.

But of all the cars I've driven, my vote has to go to the Lancia Delta Integrale. In my younger days I worked at a Lancia Delaership in London; and back in 1989/90 pre-owned Integrales were in such demand, you couldn't get them in the UK for love or money. So I used to fly over to Germany, pick up cars (that had been sourced there for us by an agent) and drive them back to London via Holland. My favorite thing to do was to accelerate down the slip road to the autobahn and over take cars that were already on the autobahn. The raw acceleration was phenomenal!
