mcease022 Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Hi All, I have a friend going to Cuba and has agreed to bring be back some cigars, however he wants to purchase some cigarillos for himself - I think he said they are the size of colt cigars. Do these count towards the 50 stick limit per person? Or do they fall under cigarettes or other tobacco limit? Thanks!

Tobacco products If you are 18 years of age or over, you are allowed to bring in all of the following amounts of tobacco products into Canada free of duty and taxes within your personal exemption: Tobacco product limits Cigarettes: 200 cigarettes Cigars: 50 cigars Tobacco: 200 grams of manufactured tobacco Tobacco sticks: 200 tobacco sticks Your friend can bring them in as "tobacco sticks". I don't know what size Colt cigars are. So...... YMMV. 3

canucks6024 Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 I would say that it's probably at the discretion of the CBSA officer and whether or not they had their morning coffee yet.

That said we are permitted 2.25 litres of alcohol per person ? . Crazy
Fuzz AI Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 West, I was told it equates to approx 5 cigars... unless you are bringing in Bushidos!

Dave O))) Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 I thought it was 50 grams duty free to Oz, which equates to sweet FA
Pilsner14 Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 FYI......I came through Canadian customs with 30 cigars over the limit from Cuba.......declared them at 5 bucks a hit.....$150 Bucks total value.......my bill to the customs clerk was $300 bucks. Bad and costly experiement. Good lesson learned.

TomF Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 See, this is interesting. Here I am in the USA and I can obtain all the habanos I can manage to store, and don't pay any taxes. Viva el embargo!!

MrGinger Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 If he brings back Minis, and the box says cigarillos, they fall under the 200 cigarettes category. If they are any bigger (clubs, puritos,) they are counted as cigars. So he can bring back 50 cigars AND 200 cigarettes/cigarillos duty free to Canada.

My thoughts exactly. You guys can order as much as your heart desires, strong USD, no chance of ending up with a big customs bill when you receive your package...If ever the embargo gets officially lifted, im sure the US government will enjoying gouging you with duty as well! 1
eswary Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 200% tax seems about right Lol, and I thought America was the Mafia. Canadians government don't play games apparently...wow Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
