wabashcr Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 3 weeks PTO, can carry accrue until I hit 4 weeks. 10 paid holidays. Boss who doesn't mind if I take a random personal day, although I never do.
MrGinger Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 I am quite fortunate as far as paid time off goes. I am in the OH&S field. I have been there 22 years. I get the following: 10 weeks of annual paid holidays 11 annual statutory holidays 12 sick days PS...this is very rare in Canada.
HarveyBoulevard Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 I work for a real bastard who has no policy and never let's me off. I'm going to punch that dude in the face one day!!! I'm self employed and seem to work a lot to some every day. Don't remember the last holiday or vacation I didn't work. 1
perkinke Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Varies wildly here in the states. I work for a county that gives me 3 weeks vacation per year (earned at rate of 10 hours per month), 12 sick days (earned at 4hrs/month), 2 floating holidays, and as management I get 64 hours of personal leave. We also get most federal holidays off (Veterans Day, thanksgiving, Christmas, Presidents' Day, and a couple others. Some agencies are more generous, some less. My mom works for a financial advisor so has lots of holidays and a good vacation package, my dad works in retail and has a few, my brother works for an armored car company and gets nothing, really. Seems like my friends who teach, especially at the university level, are always on vacation.
luv2fly Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 2 weeks paid vacation. Possibly more since nothing is written in stone. No known limit to sick days but I think I have had 3 or 4 days in 5 years. I work for a small company, no benefits but the boss is understanding about personal issues that may require a day or two if needed. My wife is a state employee and has all state and federal holiday's off. She has accumulated a massive amount of vacation and PTO. Came in handy when her father passed. This will allow her to retire about 6 to 8 months early and still get paid (as of now). We get our health benefits through her, thankfully. All in all, we are both blessed to have this since not all in the states are as lucky.
LLC Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I have been with the same company in Canada for 24 years and maxed out at 25 vacation days after 15 years. We used to be able to carry over one years vacation so I would start most years with 50 days. With a change in policy starting in 2017 I can only carry over 5 days so in 2016 I will have 45 days vacation I have to use. As well we get the 11 statutory holiday days and 10 sick days ( I have never taken one). All in all very fair but the reality is even if I am on holiday I am still working a bit and staying connected.

Squarehead Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 As a retiree I have no paid holidays or paid sickdays. However I don't have to anwser to anybody except my upper management(wife) when she hands me the "Honey Do List"On the other hand it's not easy as nobody tells you when to have a coffeebreak or lunch. 1
eswary Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Fl, USA I'm a Salary employee(sucks) I get paid for 40 hrs and work 50-60 per week. 4 weeks paid vacation, 7 sick days. Since I work a lot, I take a day here or there when things are good, just to recharge my batteries without using any form of PTO. FYI, I never take my whole 4 weeks and rarely miss due to sickness. I typically lose a week or so a year(like a moron) of PTO. Old days in the US, employers used to pay out unused PTO, those days are long gone it seems. Time to start taking it all like a normal person.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
airtrade Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 After 20 years I get, 22 vacation days a year can only caryover 30 days at the end of the year. 3 personal days a year to be used hourly. 14 sick days a year maxing out at 125 days. 11 paid holidays.
Rushman Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Most U.S. Companies start at 10 days vacay and go up after 5 years but most max out at 5. Generally speaking that's it Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Troels Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Denmark: 5-6 weeks paid holliday, depending on the branch. About ten national hollidays on top. Dont think theres a formal limit to sick days, but i've seen people being sacked after half a year of absence Untill my kids are 10 or so I'll have two ekstra hollidays pr kid, ment for days where are maybe not sick, but need some extra attention
