JohnS Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 As a diehard Cohiba fan, the size comes at a dissapointment. A buddy and I were already discussing making the splurge for the 50 Anni offering......and not any longer.... For me, the Hdm San Juan is probably my threshold. At least the cohiba pirex has a tapered end for comfort. I've glossed over my CRS many times because of the size. But I guess Cohiba did me a favor. Saved me some solid coin I was going to allocate to the Anni release and now I can justify multiple other purchases:) Summed it up for me. Except, I splurged on the CRS but I don't reach for it, and I still think I'd give this (60 rg) one a try...but that would be it. I concur with the HdM San Juan. 1
El Presidente Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 I doubt I will see any. No real interest of keeping one for myself. They will sell out in weeks.
Lant63 Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 If they wanted to do such a large ring gauge, they should have done something cool like a diadema extra in a jar? It just seems like a cop out to me.
polarbear Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Ha! Called it! http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=117102&hl=+60rg 1
Fugu Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 The passed year, I've been excited for some news on what the 50th anniversary release from Cohiba woukd be... This is really disappointing though. 60RG is just too much. I was under the impression they would do something more classic, more timeless than take this route. ^^^ This absolutely! A huge disappointment. Would've expected something more along the lines of the "classic" formats. It's a real shame and a missed opportunity (C'mon HSA it's the 50th anniv!)
polarbear Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 ^^^ This absolutely! A huge disappointment. Would've expected something more along the lines of the "classic" formats. It's a real shame and a missed opportunity (C'mon HSA it's the 50th anniv!) I can understand HSA wanting to bring a unique vitola to the party and Cohiba seems to have had every "traditional" size featured somewhere in their line over the years
MooseAMuffin Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Being from the US it's disappointing to hear that our market is more based on the size of the cigar rather than than the blend/flavor. I don't like the thought of a 60rg and the people that smoke those sizes are usually douchebags that think it makes them look important. I hope when CCs finally make it here, they stick to reasonable RGs for our regional releases. I'm sure that won't happen though
Fugu Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 I can understand HSA wanting to bring a unique vitola to the party and Cohiba seems to have had every "traditional" size featured somewhere in their line over the years I see that and absolutely agree, Polar, but it seems HSA lost direction in this attempt. I could imagine a multitude of "nicer" classy options - but bringing out this donkeydck?! But of course, this will rather be for collecting than for smoking. Paul
Vinnyc Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 With hearing prices of close to 2k a stick if it's even half that prices it's way out of my league what ever size it is
oliverdst Posted January 17, 2016 Author Posted January 17, 2016 Acording to a brazilian website http://www.charutando.com.br/novocohiba-primeiras-imagens/ these are the first pictures of it EDIT: at the moment I cant say if it's true or not.
JohnS Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Certainly looks legit(imate). My initial thoughts, when compared visually to the 2014 Cohiba Robusto Supremo LE at 58 rg x 127mm, is how long will it take to smoke this cigar. Consider the Cohiba Esplendido is a Churchill size, at 47 rg x 178mm, and that would take about 2 hours to smoke, then this 50th Aniversario cigar, at 60 rg x 178mm, would take a minimum 150 to 160 minutes to smoke. So, it's not only an investment in terms of cost, it's also an investment in terms of time to smoke!
shlomo Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Really? 50th anniversary with plain old bands? Weird.
Fugu Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Really? 50th anniversary with plain old bands? Weird. and no second band? Soo much void to fill.
Cohiba Stevie Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 I would be confident when these are released there will be a second band added detailing the 50th anniversary. If i was lucky enough to smoke one, im sure it will be a great cigar. I think the size is grotesque however its not like i will ever be in a position to buy these.
Fugu Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 I would be confident when these are released there will be a second band added detailing the 50th anniversary. ....was an ironic sentiment. In fact I won't care about a second or third band in this classy stick speaking for itself....
dangolf18 Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Man if I ever smoke one of these I'll probably pass out...
Lotusguy Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Man if I ever smoke one of these I'll probably pass out... You'll pass out from sticker shock first
oliverdst Posted January 17, 2016 Author Posted January 17, 2016 Really? 50th anniversary with plain old bands? Weird. and no second band? Soo much void to fill.I thought the same. It can be a non cuban banded with a Cohiba band. I have reasons to believe they are not fake but cant guarantee 100%
SipIt Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 What an unappealing cigar, 7x60?? I have no clue of the price for these, but I wouldn't consider them regardless. While it's pretty common to see people smoking the fat sticks in the US, I don't know of too many who do so and purchase the higher end stuff.
squizz Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Geez, I couldn't stand the NC 60rg cigars. Now a Cohiba! Bummer.
luv2fly Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 What will it be called? The Cohiba 50th Anniversary El Schlongo?
polarbear Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 What will it be called? The Cohiba 50th Anniversary El Schlongo? My Cohiba Weighs A Ton? 4
luv2fly Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 My Cohiba Weighs A Ton? Yes it does!!!! Or so I say
