I attended the service on Sunday at Vimy Ridge Memorial in France this year. A must for any Canadian Serviceman/woman at least once in their life.

A terribly moving experience to see how scarred the french landscape is even today - a silent testament to the thousands who died in mere hours, endlessly for years, fighting over a few miles of mud, for what they believed was a higher cause. We remember their sacrifice always.

We will remember them.

Unexploded ordnance from WWI means that despite the trees covering over the destroyed landscape, no one but grazing sheep and goats are allowed on certain patches of land.

Sorry for the rotated phone camera photos.

May we learn from our past mistakes and the sacrifices of many. Thank you to all whom have served and all who serve today.

Thank you to all who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you to those that risk everything so that we may press on through life!

Great picture Chris. Always wanted to visit there. Will do so someday. Thanks for your service too. I know you've been active. I'm grateful for those who served in this large, but sparsely populated country of ours. There is a lot to be proud of.

Have to add that this makes us all brothers, despite the thousands of miles that separates us. I am proud of all our men and women who gave all in service of their countries and allies.
